I couldn't finish a stage with 100% because of how austistic the crates were hidden

Way too hard and way too tedious and frustrating to get anywhere near full completion. The devs went full retard in chasing the "le Dark Souls of platformers" meme and made the game frustrating rather than fun.

The flipped levels gimmick is the most bare-faced padding ever, they shouldn't bothered wasting the dev time on it, even if it only took a day

The VHS tape challenges were really great though

Far too many levels and sections that felt asininely difficult and killed any enjoyment that could have been had. It should not take 4 hours of bashing your head against a wall to complete every other level of a platformer that is supposed to be for kids. This shit infuriated me so I feel like any child that tried it probably gave up quick.

Not really. We live in an era where games can be updated by devs. Case in point, Sonic Mania changed some of the level design in its updates so stupid people would stop getting trapped in Studiopolis Zone.

I'm on board with disliking what they did with Tawna but they fucking eviscerated Dingodile's character and design for their fat bara fetish and its disgusting and for that T4B is unforgivable.

I honestly don't think anything went wrong, like, it mogs every single modern Sonic game in sales iirc, is just that Crash had to compete with Call of Duty, any franchise that tried that would have been equally casted away by soulless suits that just focus on spending the least amount of resources and maximizing profit.

Also all those turbo autists that got filtered by the difficulty like Caddicarius, that has the most popular review of the game, made a huge disservice to the franchise, Crash 4 didn't have the nostalgia factor to begin with and then all those people spreading negativity about completion requirements while that's something not even the 1% of the playerbase would bother with, just look at the base games completion rate in steam or playstation, is ridiculously slow.

I'm just glad it happened to be honest, the platforming was really good.

doesn't matter if they can't monetize the shit out of it. that's why the next crash game was moba slop with microtransactions, and the franchise died because it didn't become a smash hit like fortnite. the suits aren't satisfied with a game being profitable it needs to be a huge cash cow with a cosntant revenue stream

I tried 100%ing it like I did the original trilogy and the hidden crates with the length of the levels was a pain in the ass so I dropped it. I heard some people suggest it's pretty fun just doing a normal playthrough so I tried that instead and the levels were pretty boring and uninspired so I dropped it again.

Actually, you should be thanking Sega (and Sony) who both handled publishing duties for Nsane and Nitro fueled. They published i.e. FUNDED both of those games. Remember that if Activision ever makes a statement about the Crash franchise ever again.

Yeah, people shit on Crash 4 for being the one that killed the franchise again, but if you really look deep into the other games, you realize those greedy fucks at Activision would have never let the franchise stablish itself.

Vicarious Visions was absorbed by Blizzard to work in soulless Diablo and Beenox was sent to the COD mines to make Warzone skins and every talented developer flee the studio. Toys for Bob had to go independent because they would have share the same fate as the other studios.

The only hope now is that Microsoft sees the value in Crash, and they actually like to fund AA and budget AAA games to spam in gamepass, so I can only hope at the moment the franchise will return, next year in the 30th anniversary theres has to be an announcement at least, if not it's truly over.

No shit, sherlock. While it is true that Crash 4 "underperformed", were this owned by Sega, any losses (if any) would be written off while long term planning on how to fix things would be put into place.
