its not hard to obvuscate malware those scanners just compare file heuristics of known/old malware litterally do an xor on something new and it wont detect it otherwise it might find some api call in your script that is sus and call it on that

I used to pirate like crazy back in the day, ps2 and pc games alike. But now I've gotten scared by stories of people getting all their files encrypted by russians asking for bitcoins that I've dropped my game pirating down to like 90%. I'm seriously considering getting a gaming laptop just to go back to pirate till my heart's content and use it exclusively for it and nothing else. If it gets hacked and encrypted, I just lose games and that's it, nothing else would be stored in the laptop, no photos, no passwords, nothing. That seems to be the only path if you've gotten to grow into a scaredy cat like myself.

its one thing to pirate stuff like music and movies where you just have to pay attention to the files extensions that are just .mp3 or .mkv, and quite another to pirate stuff you have to run .bat files, run shit in administrator mode and the likes. I too pirate movies and music like its nothing, but games I consider it a different matter entirely.

If you're not downloading a game from a sketchy ass site you will never get a virus. Windows defender thinks cracks are viruses and is completely worthless. Also, just use www.ankergames.net. It's the easiest/best site that is safe.

I once made a "hello world" program in visual studio, built it and uploaded it to virustotal, 3 detections. Decided to spice it up with some extra variables and conditionals, got up to 7 detections
Pretty sure these antiviruses just flag anything that doesn't come from a mainstream vendor, they don't actually have any intelligent methods to determine malware other than virus definitions (digital signatures of old malware)
