Because the Guillemot family lost control over their own company.
They're not just restructuring and shifting IPs into subsidiaries to prevent the entire company from imploding if worst come to worst, they're segmenting everything into separate development 'houses' that are being put under direct creative control by senior staff handpicked by Yves Guillemot - including the usual nepotism of appointing his own family members (his son and cousin, notably, we know of sofar) as those that can be directly trusted.
And this comes paired with the realization that they should make better use of their AA assets like Rayman as well; to put out some simple and plain fun games rather than go all-in on bombastic blockbuster games propped up by live-service strategies.
Unironically, they finally woke up and started cleaning house. And Ubisoft is FINALLY healing. The problem is - the cancer has metastasized and spread throughout, to the point that the chemo needed to cleanse it might as well kill the company rather than save it.
I'd almost say the Guillemots aren't to blame for the woke madness, if we ignore them having somehow managed to lose control over the goings-on in their own company to begin with - which honestly is just flat out professional ineptitude. And I'd almost say they're actually the saviors Ubisoft needs, if we ignore that Yves is a rat that prior argued all consumers are pirates at heart and deserve to be treated as dirt.
But yeah- almost. Those two and others with them are still plenty compounding and compelling reasons to say: let the motherfucker burn.
