Pirate Software's downfall was a longer process and involved his fuck-up in WoW and the smaller scandals of cheating in puzzle games on stream. The scrutiny these invited led to the discovery of his failures as a developer and his inability to code, further eroding his image as an indie dev guru tech genius, the healthy gamer appearance that outed him as a narcissist as diagnosed on the spot by an actual psychiatrist, and once sharks smelled blood in the water, even his old colleague and roommate showed up to reveal foul truths of his habits and deconstruct his narrative of being a Blizzard developer, not to mention the debunking of his claims of having been a hacker for the government, and even his own father emerged to say he wished he'd beaten Pirate Software as a kid to make him turn out better. In the midst of all this, the SKG take was just one of many cuts that bled him.
