The only possible reason way I could see cooldown hack being preferable would be is if you were going down a full-blown Cool/Stealth build and really liked spamming the invisibility cyberware. The fourth corporate war shows this a lot where Corps believed they were as powerful as nation states in their own right and things got out of control before national governments stepped in and brought the corporations back in line.
In 2077 corporations and government have intertwined much more deeply at least in the NUSA where Myers used to be the Militech CEO showing there's a much closer relation between Militech and NUSA on their objectives. Alex mentions that FIA agents have access to Militechs newest and best tech and further to this Songbird is built on secret Militech technology regarding the blackwall and Cynosure. This seems to be a much closer alliance than Japan and Arasaka who had a falling out during the 2040's and the fourth corporate war.

So Mi was a self-taught netrunner who chose on her own to hack Militech and Netwatch. FIA learned about her and while the two companies wanted her dead, Reed decided to recruit her. She would be more sympathetic if she was forced to steal from Militech by another corp as a younger person, but she wasn't. She didn't even have any good reason to become a rogue netrunner. This here is probably closest to how I felt.

From the start Songbird shows that she/NUSA could maybe cure you. Being able to mute Jhonny shows some mastery over the tech. Meyers and Reed say they could do the same but I figured they were talking out of their ass. Neither was a tech expert and nobody else so far has said it was possible, they just wanted me to get on board for whatever. The moment Songbird tied the cure to the same thing that cures her significantly different ailment I instantly flipped from 'cure probably doesn't exist' to 'There was never a cure on the table'.

The two agents never really gave me a good reason to trust them. Always withholding information about the plan just to get me to go along with it. I doubted the mission was as off the books as their claimed. They way I was seeing it I would just be a loose end at the end of it all. If it all worked and they couldn't cure me I would be a very angry and very informed individual. I figured Reed would put a bullet in my head at the first opportunity once we had Songbird. Hell, I wouldn't have been surprised if the virus that I was supposed to upload to Songbird incapacitated me as well. Then he could just flatline me as he scooped up Songbird.

At least with Songbird I expected her involvement with V would probably end after the GTFO stage of her plan. Either way V is going to be considered a liability to the NUSA. Best option is to probably delta out of the whole situation as soon as you hear about the Blackwall being involved and hope Reed gets himself killed trying to extract Songbird. Since that isn't exactly an option in the scope of the game I decided to betray Reed before Reed/NUSA could betray me.

You can't even account for all the combat in The Devil ending because Yorinobu trying to kill the board and his sister was not expected. V's choices were testify in front of the Arasaka board with a decent chance of survival and go on a near certain suicide run with the Aldecaldos, Rogue, or by yourself. He can still choose the later to not sell his soul out even though it meant certain death. Further in the Devil ending he can choose to go into Mikoshi or go back to Earth and die in 6 months. He's being press ganged by Arasaka to say you either go into Mikoshi or die, but you can still decide not to sell your soul and go out on your own terms.
