The game is designed so that temperate biome is in the middle, around 0, 130, 0.
To get some diversity you need to move to east or west.
That's why so many VS playthroughs are samey.
Even if I turned the spawn temperature to hot, I'd still be at the center of the map instead of let's say southern hemisphere.

It was fun for a week when you built your village/castle/roleplay build(for me it was a multi-tier city from bedrock [hell-themed] to build limit [heaven-themed]), but yeah after that there's nothing to stimulate a creative brain unless you are also autistic. Having to travel 20,000 blocks (2-3 in-game days by foot) from your base to find a fucking vein of iron is absolutely terrible. The solution is making meteoric iron smithable on bronze anvils, I have more meteoric iron than regular iron because I found sooo many fucking spawns while searching for regular iron.
I have less of an issue with prospecting for other minerals, and the grind for steel is a non-issue given its end game equipment rn.

20 hours of this was just walking and prospecting in the 4 cardinal directions around my base to find hematite btw.
I found enough gold and silver to make full black bronze armor in that time, and enough meteorite to make an anvil, and full plate.
Iron ores are some of the rarest in the game - although to be fair the first story area spawns a small amount of it, although I doubt its enough to even make an anvil.

Well there's nothing that exists in VS that can't be done better in modded MC, meanwhile VS is missing countless things modded MC has. So yeah there's no point to it yet. It's a skeleton of a game, which is fine if you're looking for something like vanilla minecraft but slower and grindier but I figured most players would've moved on to advanced modded games already

when you have less than .3 attempts per appropriate chuck to have an ore spawn, sometimes you just get fucked, and it shouldn't be like that in the game.
Meteoric iron is more common than Iron ore, its fucking absurd and the absolute worst aspect of this game in its current state to try and defend.

by default, yes. You can disable world spawn and make the npcs craftable only. The version I'm using (firis patch) also adds villagers that sell spawn eggs for them.

in addition to lmm, I also use minecraft comes alive, which turns villagers into sims that you can marry and have babies with (and then insert said babies into a tinkers smeltery to create emeralds), as well as touhou little maid which is exactly what it sounds like, lmm with touhou characters.
I also have a mod called KAGIC plus the addon rejuvenate, which is like lmm but with steven universe characters, however, I use the mod exclusively for the pink spinel follower that you can get from the floating garden structure that spawns semi-rarely in the overworld.

I started playing Minecraft shortly before nether was added. The fucked up scenery was probably a little more fucked up, but just a hair. The loss of giant lakes was also unfortunate. Outside of that, there's way more variety in newer versions, and the addition of massive caves is a something early Minecraft lacks. if you want to mourn massively long minecart rails think of the boat update too. those things are way faster than they were and can carry an npc passenger, so moving villagers extreme distances is often done by that rather than carts. but in a recent update minecart speed and physics has become configurable, i didnt look in to it much but rail jumps are affected too somehow. if people arent building cool rollercoasters or tracks the ball is in their court waiting.
what im noticing is that peoples imaginations have dulled overall. people seem to have this urge to build things that they think looks real and stay away from things that look too "video gamey" now. maybe elytras do have something to do with that, people like to look at their buildings from every angle. maybe it makes people feel extra critical when they focus so much on one thing.
but shouldnt flying just open up more avenues for creativity? we have elytra but hardly anybody builds in the sky. maybe the tameable giant floating smiley faces are what the game needs to nudge players back towards surrealism. i think the terrain might affect creative moods too.

No anon. People built railroads to use them, for their functionality. Even if they're configurable now, it still a sub optimal transport than elytras, for you do not have to build jack shit to fly like you do with railroads, no matter what you do to railroads now you've effectively deprecated them and there's no turning back, it'll be a waste to do so cause their use its deprecated. There is no usecase to prefer railroads over elytras, you'd only be forcing yourself to use them, they just made an entire part of minecraft pretty much deprecated now, no matter what they update, what they add to railroads, its dead already, there will be no "railroad revive" update that bring them back to life, and when I say life I mean use adopted by most players over other means of transportation.
