Personally I thought it was cool that the final boss is basically a mixture of builds. Swapping from INT to DEX + Pyro to Faith was very cool.

I could even forgive the gwyn nostalgia bait if it made any fucking sense whatsoever. The dude has been dead for thousands of years. He's been gone so long that people in the second game dont even remember his name. In Ds1 he's so far gone you're basically fighting a living corpse. No way he somehow manages to stick around as a ghost for 5000 years and then possess this amalgamation thing, so fucking retarded.

That plus the "Gwyn was literally hitler" shit from the DLC was stupid. Miyazaki made an interesting character then added a statue of him stepping on an emaciated holocaust survivor just to show how one dimensionally evil he actually was whoooo what a twist

Good for you, he doesn't. He's just one piece of all the souls that burned in the flame.
>"Gwyn was literally hitler" shit from the DLC
That was from DS1
>He's been gone so long that people in the second game dont even remember his name
It was never intended for the setting's timeline to last that long, as made clear with DS3.

???
It's a statue of Gwyn uplifting the Pygmies/ Humanity. It's just propaganda that you, as someone who is familiar with the series, should be able to see through.
How did you guys navigate all of the Golden Order politics in Elden Ring?

Semantic bullshit, from a Ds3 fanboy? Say it isn't so!
>Soul of the Lords
>Since Lord Gwyn, the first Lord of Cinder, many exalted lords have linked the First Flame, and it is their very souls that have manifested themselves as defender of the flame.
Its quite literally the Chosen Undead + various other heroes. And in Phase 2 Gwyn takes over

I would rather play Dark Souls 4 than any one of these shitty discount soulslop clones that keep iterating on themselves and being shittier each time.

i know it's a "please clap" boss fight but i'm fine with them trying to attempt to do a gwyn fight again where he doesn't die to parrying in 5 seconds.

None of those are in control. Gwyn gave himself to the flame as did all others.

>Ds3 fanboy
Wrong again, to no one's surprise.
It's a manifestation of Gwyn's essence, just like the different builds that make up SoC's first phase are the different essences of various undead that have linked the fire: one of them /could/ have been the Chosen Undead of DaS, but it's just as likely that those were the manifestations of any number of strong-willed champions that the flame brought out to protect itself.
It's in the name: Soul of Cinder. It's an amalgamation of the essence of every undead to have ever been used as kindling.
Some were powerful enough that they left their imprint on the gestalt spirit, like Gwyn.
It's almost unbelievable that you don't understand this, because it's such a simple concept. I think you're just trolling, honestly.
Anonymous No.717709636
Honestly, people trying to come at this from a Western point of view are doomed to never understand it. You're trying to map it as something woth concrete meaning, whereas Souls lore has always been about the thematic and spiritually true.

He's not "possessing" the Soul of Cinder. The point is that it's an amalgamation of everyone who's ever linked the flame and is able to use all of their abilities, including Gwyn's.
