The A.A.H.W are the coolest niggas that have ever been made. I always thought it was really funny and absurd an entire agency exists just to kill one guy.
>>717733545
I've played it, it's alright but I still think the biggest mistake was making it 3d abandoning the original 2d format. I just want something like this where it feels like your playing an exact madness video.
>>717735902
I can't remember the name right now but I think some guy is making a gory 2d sidescrolling shooter that could perhaps let you to have madness like violence
>>717733545
Yeah, people argue that while it's a good and fun game (albeit with that indie jank), it's not a particularly good Madness Combat game from the 3D transition to voice acting.
It's come quite a long way though with its modding scene, from custom classes, custom weapons, custom animations and now even custom campaigns.
>>717736192
It's more of it being so out of place and non-fitting since the main series didn't have it. If anything, the sound design of MPN was done very well.
>>717736302
I thought the voice acting was one of the better parts of MPN, the voices for Sanford, Sheriff, Jeb, the bandits, the agents and n51 were really good. Sanford especially being voiced by the Newgrounds tank guy Johnny Utah.
Anyone remember that one parody where everyone was a clown, with the final boss being a mime, and the main character went around, slaughtering everyone with his dick?
>be MC god >decide to make a machine that automatically does your goding duties with no input needed >all is well until suddenly the machine begins re-writing it's own reality script wanting madness >your own jannies take the side of the machine >machine is now impossible to turn off because it has re-coded and password reset everything from your control removing your administration privileges >have to hide in a time loop because the machine is now trying to kill you and you have no way to stop it except hope your creations somehow figure it out themselves
Why did he do it?
>>717737929
I'd assume someone like Deimos would be able to use Doc's tech, though not to the same effectiveness, but the Machine wants to straight up permakill him for all his transgressions, so it would be even harder if not impossible for SQ to save him if the Machine gets him.
>>717737665
it's probably a plot in a lot of books. but those books don't have a charming artstyle, endless streams of cartoon violence disguising its actually interesting lore, tricky or hank
>>717736192 >>717736527
It's executed ok but don't think voice acting belongs in Madness period, but it's nice you can just turn it off with pretty much zero issue. i do like that jeff is sanford's canon voice, that's fun.
>>717737542
The way I interpreted it, the Maker and Nevada are inevitably fucked when the Machine ushers in the Madness(tm), and only the Arena PC can avoid sharing the same fate via perpetuating his timeloop by enmeshing the Machine.
So only the Arena PC resets himself in the timeline and the rest of the timeline continues without him, since Arena mode is a prequel to Project Nexus and by extension Madness 5/6
>>717738709
Krinkels got a background artist (and the current gun/sfx artist has been around for a while) so he can focus on animating action scenes. This should cut down the time in between episodes, which is still going to take a while but not half a decade.
>>717735902
their biggest mistake was the horrible fucking gamepad controls.
your character aims in the last direction you moved the right stick in.. even when you're not holding the right stick in a direction but your are holding the left stick in one. fucking horrible design.
Also heavy and light attack are on the same goddamn button and so you never know when you'll accidentally trigger a slow heavy attack that you didn't want.
>AAHW in main series >just wants to chill and protect whatever the fuck auditor is doing, bonafide evil organization >AAHW in project nexus >literal unhinged psychopaths that will crawl out of the walls if so much as someone mentions hank
what gives
I remember watching them when I was very young with my friends at school in the early 2000s
and our comptech teacher wondered why we were all gathered around one screen but ended up watching it with us
I was wondering if the newer generation also liked it
>>717745954
yes. there is a lot of younger people enjoying madness. the concept of >cartoon looks simple on surface but has lore to dig into and likeable characters
is perfect for younger generations imo and generally timeless
at least on krinkels's streams i catch a lot of people who speak like they're very young
>be in high school >visit Newgrounds frequently >learn all about Madness Combat and watch the videos >fast forward 20 years >this man is still going strong when I thought he's cash out and move on like 15 years ago
Madness is such an interesting whatever the hell it is. I'm not implying anything negative, but when you look at the golden age of Newgrounds how many of those animators are still doing their own thing and managed to make a living out of it? The fact Krinkels still receives support and he didn't fade into obscurity is amazing.
>>717736596
being the funniest character while literally not even having a face to express anything
i always admired how krinkels made like 80% of the characters in madness emote purely through hand movements
>>717745687
Zoomer here, grew up post-MCU era but stumbled onto Madness via FNF mods of all things. Got curious, fell down the newgrounds rabbit hole, now I'm neck-deep in lore and watching Krinkels updates like it's a new anime season. Madness just hits that perfect spot between ultra-violence and weird humor, and yeah the style aged like wine. Definitely still relevant, just through different doors than before.
>>717733545
It's cool having 5 other dudes rush in with you, but you have to finagle them because some build skills that you don't need for them. All in all it's a fun game.
>>717732647 (OP) >make plushies of the main madness characters
okay sick >make more plushies of the ones from project nexus no one cares for
Where's my fucking Grunt plush, Krinkels?
>>717732763
This is the real opinion and anyone with half a brain agrees. Madness combat had its 15 seconds of fame, but as it got more and more grotesque, people tuned out. I know I sure as shit did.
Were the Improbability Drives the result of the Machine's manipulation? Their activation turned Nevada into a hellhole which is what it wanted by other characters. Were they manipulated by it or did they not know what they were doing when making the Improbability Drives?
>>717753412
6 has the coolest Hank design, the fastest paced action, and was the most bloody/gruesome one before Krinkels started doing the new sprites. The dance floor scene in 4 is absolute kino but it doesn't carry the whole animation to the level of 6.
>>717753682
NTA but Fleetwire, or Cryono before he changed his name, was exposed as being a degenerate furry and a child predator. A bunch of his stuff texting a minor very NSFW stuff was exposed and Freetwire reacted by nuking everything associated with himself
>>717747365
Why would Krinkels stop making madness? His previous jobs were him wage slaving and madness is bringing him more money than what he was doing.
>>717747365
madness has just got that much longevity. it's not based on any specific era on newgrounds in a way that would make it dated. krinkels can pretty much turn it into whatever he wants whenever he feels like it. like recently when he just used the madness characters for a total shitpost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyziJtz8nwQ
the way the characters look lends itself for easy jokes and fan animations. people are still making fan animations for this reason. people also still make stickman animations btw.
>>717741181
The way they managed to show facial expressions like this was incredibly kino ans very creative. All the attention to detail was incredible.
>>717754524
I'm not saying he should. His situation almost reminds me of Homestar Runner where the Brothers Chap were able to sustain themselves off people constantly visiting the website and buying merch. It's cool that there're individuals able to make a living off their own creations without having to go to places like Disney or Paramount to sell an idea.
>>717753080
Girls have been mentioned to exist in PN2 but Krinkles is a self admitted misogynist so we probably wont ever see them appear in official MC content.
>>717733545
Forgot to finish storymode, finished arena mode like 5 times.
Breddy gud once you get used to the odd controls and counter throwing a charging melee enemy never got old.
>>717732647 (OP)
WTF Krinkels is making new Madness Combat vids?
I remember I watching up to about 8 or 9 (which vid was it where the SWAT dudes with yellow blood first appeared?) in ~2008 or ~2007 and then lost interest and forgot about it because new vids stopped being released. My last memory was Hank and the bandanna guy facing off against the shadow dude for the last 10+ years.
>>717747365
I remember when Krinkels got pissed off watching a "furries torture animals" video and left a comment that he's finally cooking up some new stuff, then we finally got MC11 about 8 years after MC10.
>>717758460
My little fucking compadre, the motherfucker made a game (pretty basic in all honesty) but yeah catch up with the times you out of practice cultured motherfucker.
>>717758403 >lost his hook >lost his best bro >became tricky's toy for a while >was basically fighting for his life the entirety of mc12 while auditor was fucking with him
i exxagerated but he might have had the most pain per screentime afflicted on him in the last 10 years of madness
>>717732763
I continued liking it even after 5. The problem is The Other Place is so fucking lame to me that I just don't care at all about what's going on anymore. The A.A.H.W. also started to bore me as well soldats and engineers just don't do shit (there are more instances of Hank getting injured by an AGENT than a fucking soldat or engineer), which is why I actually like project nexus since they do shit with them. I still love this series, but atp the fan animations are more entertaining than the official releases.
>>717744969
The AAHW being unhinged and completely noncredible was a good way to different them from Nexus Core since they ate their normal evil organization niche, they should've been airdropping more MAGs to try to beat up Hank and the gang
>create the coolest looking niggas ever >only used in one arena mission
What the FUCK KRINGLES! These niggas better appear in an official madness video because it's such a fucking waste.
>>717759958
These guys are actually a kickstarter backer reward faction if I remember right. This guy called DarkSignal came up with them and coughed up like a million bucks (not actually anywhere close to that much money) to get them in the game. They appear in his flash animations.
>>717759958
the faction's creator recently released a short custom campaign as a prequel to that arena stage while featuring these guys. bonus points because u play as a level 3 trooper
maybe he'll actually finish subjugation part 2
>>717763265
I hope Kringles considers using them more because they're a really cool looking faction and the implication that they're the original US military from Area 51 before Nevada went to shit needs to be looked at further.
>>717732763
Nah, the quality went down when Krinkels decided to incorporate Nexus into the main plot and began shifting focus to the Other Place and "Lore."
Hell, Nevada ain't even the state no more.
>>717755043
Pretty sure the only job he talked about publicly was his prison janitor job. He says he had a bunch of other wagie jobs but nothing about a gun store.
>>717733545
The story mode is frankly dogshit because it doesnβt translate the style of the animations well into gameplay. Fuckin madness interactive reloaded did it better and itβs a fan made project lmao
>>717759269 >>717760985 >Nexus!Pank is a silly boy, but still saner than Tricky. >Nexus!Wank is a living British stereotype and less of a twat than main Hank.
>>717745687
Me. I found out about this after the Tricky mod for FNF got popular (please don't associate me with those "people" on /trash/ or /vg/, I didn't play the game and I just liked the music). I then watched the whole series in a sitting and became a fan. I even made a Madness Combat mod for Rimworld (which I really need to update, now that I think about it.)
>>717745687
22 Year old Zoomer. Madness Combat was the first real internet thing I encountered outside of YTPs and it brought me to Newgrounds after I played Accelerant and Regent on ArcadePreHacks
>>717766475
for what it's worth the FNF fans really fucking hate how the tricky mod ended trying to have a marvel cinematic universe with mod characters too
>>717766923
I know Banbuds was trying to put his conductor cap from 6 onto this sprite but it looks god awful and I wince whenever I see Tricky with this design.
