>Drive a shitbox with a manual transmission >Take off is slow and the shifting slows down the car even more >I don't mind it at all >The problem is that some dickhead behind me in their Ford or Jeep or GMC or some other douchebag car will ride my ass expecting me to hit 60 as soon as the light turns green >>717760073 >>old people want it back just so they can antagonize young people for no reason
I thought manuals were getting popular among young people

I like stick shift simply because it gives me a meager amount of mental stimulation in an otherwise dreary and shit driving experience because of all the traffic. I'd kill for some fucking public transit so I could just not drive anymore since it's so mindless and enervating now.

what irrationally filters people is the fact every manual feels different. this is something you get accustomed to in couple of drives, but the initial DISCOMFORT hurdle is there.

These were soft cancled not because they were complicated but because American roads have 1000x the niggershit drivers, bikemutts and welfare kid obstacles to dodge, so safety takes up all of driver's ed now and there is no time to learn how the vehicle actually fuckin' works.
>go on vacation in central america >car rental company warns that most of their fleet use manual >very excited since I haven't had a manual car since the mid 2000s >get there and they hand over an automatic SUV >wife sees this as a free upgrade so we go with it

This "fine control" is bullshit for the most part. Maybe in the old days of shitty four-speed slushboxes, but a modern auto is great.
I was also a manual elitist for a long time, but lately I've been driving some rentals which were autos and I think my next car will probably be auto as well, no reason not to.

I drive in a place with tons of slopes (an island) and it's great to have manual. Engage a lower gear when going downwards to enjoy a bit of engine braking and not be pressing the brakes all the time like a retard, engaging the right gear in the right powerband when going up, etc

I'll give you downhill, that's the one part where a manual can be better, though most autos these days have a manual mode too if you want it.
On the other hand, hill starts are a real pain in a manual.

How do you Park with this shit??
Manualfags are the worst thinking they're so superior because they jerk off their transmission lever whenever they do anything. You have to be gay to own a manual car.
>>717759967 (OP)
I own 5 cars and 4 are manual.
I don't understand how you could like videogames but not like driving a manual. It is so satisfying to get right. I grew up not really driving and then only driving automatics so I bought a simrig to learn on. Best gaming related purchase I've ever made

Buddy the driving test here is going through a 10mph parking lot while avoiding cones and doing over exaggerated head movements then parallel parking

Oh sweet summer child.
Not in a number of years. They have "F1" style paddle shifting now. And only that. So "manual" in the sense that you can suggest a gear to the computer running the automatic.
Know a dude who had porsches. Switches to BMW because if he's going to drive a fancy car he wants to interact with it. Not the same without the stick.

What do you mean park, you stop the car. That's it. You can pull the handbrake if you want but if a car is left in gear then it's not going anywhere anyway.
>>717760057
Most of them do it because repairing is more expensive.
I always laugh when people push it too hard at launch and the car shifts up twice and tells the 40yo mom to chill dude.
It sound ridiculous.

If you don't know how to manually shift gears you don't know how to drive.
You are no different from a child with one of those remote-controlled toy cars.
