I know the board meta as a zoomer is to pretend you're 36 but I wasn't around back then. Was it some of the QTEs? It was a series with genuine difficulty and the ability to rail nymphs. I get not liking the reboot but the original 3 games are amazing. What gives /v/?

Its people pretending the combat is 1 button. Can you press square? Sure but you still have to dodge. But you can also just mash one button in ninja gaiden too and just press one button to dodge.

I didn't play Ninja Gaiden reboot before the ps3 ports, but I did play Devil May Cry before God of War and the combat is the problem.
The problem is the combat, it's so brain dead simple compared to other contemporary action games, so it's regarded as the unthinking mans action game.

Yeah, it had the same Devil May Slop kill-a-room-of-enemies-and-collect-the-glowy-dots playstyle, but most action games around 2005 were exactly like that. GoW just did it well.

If you're going by what /v/ says, then OOT is the most flawed game in history seeing how there's threads here about how overrated it is three times a day since 2005.

Yeah the marketing around the game made me think it was overhyped XTREME BRO culture Spike TV slop. But it was pretty fun still on higher difficulty. OP posted the PSP game and that was a good platform for it I think. Mashing square for an entire game felt justifiable on a handheld.

Because it was a "rival" to DMC, which has more technical gameplay (if you make combo videos or scorechase, the game actually never requires anything that difficult to pull off).
Now that there's a new GoW that's "a movie game" (/v/ still loves MGS by the way) and "woke" (because /pol/--I mean /v/--sees a black woman and shits themselves), suddenly the original GoW was infinitely superior and actually a masterpiece, good thing there's no such thing as post history so nobody can see me flip so easily on my opinions!

It's an action adventure game when people are trying to frame it as their silly CURREEHZZZUUHHHYYY CHARACTER ACTION games. Funny thing is that GoW gets shit on for QTEs while /v/ will bend over backwards as to why they're fine in RE4 when there are significantly more instances of do QTE or die in RE4.

The original GOW games were 2nd rate hack and slashers compared to DMC3 and NG Black.
Its mechanical depth and gameplay prowess were just barely above DMC1.

That said, the original games still had room for improvement and are still heck of a lot more fun to play than Nu-GOW.
But mainstream Western game developers are talent-hack cock suckers who care more about politics than gaming.

this is simply not true. Just because DMC1 had more complex controls, doesn't mean it's deeper. Original GOW had more enemies, was longer and offered more variety. Playing on GOW on God Mode is far more enjoyable than playing DMD in the original gow. You are only right if you compare it to DMC3 and NGB but just because those games had better combat, doesn't mean the original ps2 games were bad

That's because RE4babbies memed it into the most overrated game of all times, whereas GoW was just another game in a well-endowed genre that was just competently made and thus couldn't produce such a rabid fandom.
Although I will never forgive them for going with generic bland zombies instead of Harryhausen skeletons because "hurrdurr WE thought skellies were boring" or some shit like that.

Well one, congrats on not being a liar, that's one of the many things that sent 4chan from the grave into purgation and possibly even Hell, and secondly, do a significant amount of people really fucking treat that as a "meta" even so much as to speak of it as such? I've known people have always lied and pretended to fit in because they fear being called newfags or something, but if people are just causually regarding this as a "meta" then I know it simply couldn't be more over for this website.
