Where they literally paid for identity politics obsessed radicals to impose Progressive Stack Theory onto the fomenting protest movement following the 2008 financial crisis. That was done in order to change its purpose from demanding the end of Subprime lending and predatory student loans, and demanding accountability for the bailouts. To things that wouldn't actually hurt their bottom line. Representation. Puerile gestures of support for "Marginalized groups." Making relatively small, tax deductible donations to charities for such groups, (That will be spending that money on their products and services anyway.)
Swapping out the heads of the beast, while getting to pretend like exploiting even more people for the benefit of fewer than ever constitutes Progress.
It poisoned the business culture and academia and everything started to suck, and it's only finally coming to a head because the hand that feeds has finally been nipped. Some aren't sure if that means it's time to put the old girl down,, or if they simply need to start wearing gloves.
And it's also been long enough that some of the people making the choices have no clue that this was all a big, obnoxious panic maneuver to pull the financial industry in particular out of hot water as a whole.
