Both were kino. Once WOW went beyond WC3 lore it went to shit. Cata was when I quit the game. I still think they should have done Emerald Dream expansion after WOTLK but Blizzard were already going to shit around that time.

Frozen Throne because it's a paid expansion with no conclusion that is necessary reading for a dogshit paypig simulator with completely different gameplay released the next year.
WotLk because it's a paid expansion for the aforementioned that concludes the story from FIVE YEARS prior in an embarrassing fashion.

That said, the actual ending of WotLK being a deus ex machina doesn’t work as well as it does in Reign of Chaos. In RoC the “deus” is in setting up a trap for Archimonde with pre established rules (wisps deal magic damage).
