if you're talking about the modern autism simulator meme, I guess ultima counts
A lot of arcade games were inherently autistic due to how repetitive they are. every arcade had a few resident autists that would try to be #1 on every good table. try playing pacman or galaga for 3 hours straight

Eh, I thought about this and was gunna say roguelikes but then I realized
1) a lot of early roguelikes are easy
And
2) nethack isn't very hard either and a lot of things got added after the fact

You really need dynahack or something to spice it up.

This is more like a super casual dad game, a baby could beat it

Because the autists were the ones making the games, instead of just consuming the products

I would agree with arcade games but not until the mid-90s era at least and these were not available to the average consumer. I remember the original console release of super turbo and it was not like playing it at the arcades

Autists latch onto sonic games, but they are not games for autists. I say this as someone who was a regular user on a sonic fan forum in 2002ish.

There's not much too them, they're more for teens hanging out in pizza parlors. Like I don't think a pinball wizard is putting in as much effort as the guy playing CAVE shmups for score, it's just some greaser.

Why does literally every AAA movie slop have RPG mechanics then? Face it. This genre is for the most casual babies there is. Normalfags love two things: RPGs and Stealth games. Every movie game must have these two things.

Turn Based Dungeon RPGs where you have to map it out yourself and restart after death are autistic though, just having a level bar with button mash combat is not

I don't think making a map is as hard as you remember it. I beat Ultima 4 in my school's computer lab np and didn't even need to map. Most dungeon crawlers are very easy, especially the Japanese ones that people often praise here.

Think that back in the day many devs made RPGs aware that they will not get backlash when a game can brick your run because you didn't watch out for a stat or did a wrong turn. They expected you to often restart unlike today where this is considered now an industry taboo.

I have been psychologically evaluated many times and never diagnosed with autism. Full disclosure, I could not list the months of the year in correct order until I played Uma Musume at 35 years old. I could, however, list all original 150 pokemon in order.

It's truly interesting how the brain works. I had the good fortune of being on a soccer team with a kid who won this "world's smartest kid" competition on national television and he could not even tie his own shoes.
