The only times where I begrudgingly finished a game with save states is when I actually hated the gameplay but was interested in the story or whatever (which should never be the case with Castlevania)

Does it count if I literally can't save because I'm trying to beat the game in a weird novel way? For instance I keep going back to this Save State of Zelda where I have her in the dark world with me and I'm trying to figure out how I can trigger the Gannon fight.

I've been playing the collections recently and rewind has been a godsent for soul farming.

Also the save anywhere feature when I have to stop playing but can't be bothered to backtrack to a save room. I know the features were primarily included for shitters like these, but they're nice.
