If we want to argue in good faith I would also assume that's why it was pushed back, 9 months is far too long for even the final patch to linger. Even if we wanted to imagine them adding more content to .5 and .55, say an ultimate, beast master, criterion, blah blah blah, that's still far too much time between expansions.

I really think FFIX is one of the best FFs ever made. The atmosphere, music and story is amazing. I agree that it felt rushed towards the end, and the combat system and loading times on the PS1 was bad….

… but I’d much rather see a remake of FF8. That game is something special. And there are theories to the story that’s better than the actual story that they could’ve ran with.

Or even better, a proper FF6 remake with a god damn turn based combat system.

The problem with Auto Battle is that it was way too fucking good. You only had to use Libra once on a new enemy and the Auto Battle would pick the best options for you in an instant. The only thing you had to do was the Shifty thinggy to Heal and then go back to Auto Battle. It worked for the entire game, optional bosses and everything.
Still required a bit more brain power than FF16 though. Now that was brainless to a whole new level. They really did not want to make a video game.

DQXII is basically cancelled. Has made zero progress and is effectively being replaced by a big Roto Trilogy push with an attempt to expand that aspect of DQ, which is why the remakes will be integrating side story materials.

The reason why DQVII specifically is being remade will be revealed once you play all three remakes- in the order of 3, 1, 2. That's why Horii asked you to do that, after all. Anyone who has familiarity with DQ should have the gears turning in their heads.

There are no other remakes planned currently, and this is due to the developer of the remake projects of 1-3 pursuing their own interests for the time being. DQ7's remake is fully 3D, like the 3DS one, though more in the style of how Heroes and XI handled the art assets.

FFXVII is not releasing in 2027, but it will be sooner than a lot of people think. It is being developed by a separate team from XVI, and will feature turn based combat- without parrying. That's XVIII.
Oh yeah, SE is gonna release some gay ass collector's thing for people who own FF1-16 on Switch or PS5 physically. It's just steel tin you put the games in.

Final Fantasy VII Part 3 will release in 2026. There was a heated email exchange where Nomura had seemingly insisted on a December 25th release date in spite of stores being closed on that day in the most important countries.

Look into the last 10 years of SE game releases from AAA to AA and you'll see they did just that, release a bunch of different games, different I.P.s but 9/10 of them failed and flopped and it has cost SE hundreds of millions to do so.

Rumour is that they're going to delay the next expansion for two very specific reasons.
One is the poor reception of Dawntrail's MSQ/ Story and their entire premise for the next arc of their story revolved around a singular character, that character was so universally disliked and hated even though they pushed her so much that it's forced massive re-writes and they've had to throw out their original story ideas for the next expansion and start from scratch which of course is going to delay the release of the next expansion.
The other is more speculative basically I made it the fuck up but this second reason is more practical, they don't have the resources to knock out another expansion so fast because the team responsible for FF14 is working on 3 different projects at once, they're spread too thin and the remaining devs still tasked with working on FF14 are newer hires, meaning less experienced meaning they need more time for development because fundamentally the game is using an old engine which newer younger devs do not have experience with when they graduate so they have to spend time training on FF14's engine to familiarise with it before they can be useful which currently has led to a lot of bugs and quality assurance problems and will bleed into another reason for the expansion delay.
They still haven't announced when they're going to host the fanfests and it's already 7.3 which is over midway through the current expansion life cycle
