I'm not sure what to recommend if you want the gameplay loop to change, most jrpgs have a "linear" gameplay like that. Maybe you should try some indie rpgs like Chained Echoes, who are usually not a 100h long.
Of course, there is also E33 but you probably already played it. The gameplay evolves constantly (but a lot of menuing), the story is more serious/adult.

I haven't played e33, i always wait for all dlcs to come out before playing games.
I don't specifically want gameplay loop changes, I just think for a game like P5 that was so long it needed to do something to keep itself fresh.
Another example although I don't know if it counts as JRPG really is Fire emblem 3 houses which I thought the gameplay was fine, but then it gimped itself by making me need to replay the entire first half to get to other routes (i never played the other routes because of that)

Yeah but a lot of the game is just grinding too. Doing the same few activities to raise stats to get the same social links. The only real difference is who you decide to romance which is a grand total of like 4 or 5 scenes.
Playing Persona 4, Persona 5, and Metaphor made me not even play P3R because they're all the same game.

Based and Oraclepilled. Futaba is peak. Actually has character growth, deepest trauma arc, and by the end she’s a functional genius with friends and a family. Also, her persona awakening was raw as hell. She got more drip than half the Phantom Thieves too. Only downside is you gotta max those stats first, but it’s worth it.

I think my problem with P5 is that for being the "chaos" faction. They're so insanely goody goody it pisses me off. I always use my first run to enjoy the game. Only looking for NG+ content that needs something from the first run.
Ng+ is fun for a SL full playthrough and use Personas that I didn't use.
In P5 case I got the normal route and left the new one for the second.

Depends, if you used a guide and did one playthrough fair enough you wouldn't need to go back. If you just played it naturally there's NG+ where you can make up for any lost stats/social links etc or do other side content without the pressure of min-maxing your days. Playing around with the Persona building can be decent too, but the game isn't really challenging even on the hardest.
