Xbox one is actually really based to collect for right now
You can get a used console from a private seller for anywhere in between $50-$150 depending on the model and condition and the disks are super fucking cheap
Most are floating around the $5-$10 mark (cheaper than PS4 games)
I bought a one X for $100 yesterday and I've already paid for it if you compare the price of the games to their digital or even steam counterparts
Add to that you can play a large portion of your 360 library an many popular og Xbox games and it's honestly a fantastic deal

It's not so much collecting as it is deal hunting
As long as you don't care about the latest games, you can get in for extremely cheap and buy a bunch of games for $10 that are still going for $40 digitally

Sounds cool idea.
What's the most rare xbox one? I want to get that one first out of the way. Not counting like super limited ones that they only gave away in raffles etc

Remember there is the Xbox One (chunky VCR), the Xbox One S, and Xbox One X for Microsofts 8th gen offerings.

The Xbox One X (and current Series X) provides "X Enhancements" for 360/Original Xbox games where the other 2 do not.

The series consoles are definitely better than the ones
But they're much more expensive right now
It's all about value for the money
>>717929401
The Xbox one definitely has no future, but the games it did have released for it are super cheap atm and used copies are even less expensive than what the games usually go for on PC sales

Right I know. My point was between VCR, S, and X, consider springing for the One X. Not grabbing a Series X.

I hope whoever came up with this naming scheme is in those layoffs.

Series S is better than the Xbone X and costs roughly the same, it's just a question of if you want physical copies or not.
SeX is better than the Xbone X by quite an amount, and Xbone X does not get access to modern BC games because the Xbone has stopped being supported for BC outside of what was already finished.

They're cheaper on the Series because many Series games aren't even on the disk on top of the unpopularity of the system.
PS5 and Switch are the only ways you actually get proper physical copies most of the time. Plus their popularity and not being a niche place to get certain games leads to slightly higher prices.

Half the reason why prices are so low is because no one was buying the games at all. Kingdom Hearts 3 dropped to $10 unbelievably quickly on Xbone because no one was buying it there whereas on PS4 it was $40 for quite a while and then $20. Same deal with Digimon Survive being $15 fairly quickly on Xbone but steadily $30-40 for several months on PS4 and Switch before hitting $20. You're basically buying copies of games no one wanted because the fanbase was not on the platform. When it comes to stuff people actually want (Like Assassin's Creed games, RDR2, etc) they're in parity with PS4/PS5/Switch.

Speaking as someone with a PC that can actually play most current AAA titles, adding an Xbox only makes sense if I can get everything for cheap and play disks on it
The series S is technically a nicer experience for games (can't do 4k, but the boneX also just barely does 4k@30) and will be supported a bit longer by Microsoft, but not being able to take advantage of the fantastic deals for 2nd hand games makes it not worth the money

Dude they pretty much ALL released on PC, you can just pirate them. It's only good as a Forza Horizon machine currently because they'll never port those older games due to licensing. As far as I know there are no other decent exclusives

That's fine I don't buy a lot of goyslop in general so it's cool to get a game for $10-$20 l. Every series game I own is on the disc, not that it really matters to anyone but physical preservation larpers.

The issue that anything you would realistically want a disk for like original Xbox games or 360 games for BC aren't being played off the physical copy and the physical copy costs about as much or even more than the digital copy. You download a copy of the game, it's the same situation as Game Key Cards.

When it comes to Xbone games there's basically nothing that's not on PC or PS4 at this point and PS4 actually gets you exclusives like City Shrouded in Shadow, Concrete Genie, Gravity Rush 1 and 2, inFamous SS/FL, Uncharted, or Bloodborne. Then there's the entire library of PSVR games like Astro Bot or Deracine. You'll also get objectively better performance than anything the Xbone offers for the multiplats you might be thinking of getting on it even with the Xbone X in a decent amount of cases, and many many multiplats do not exist physically on Xbox like the Kingdom Hearts games, Yakuza games, Digimon games, or even something simple like Valkyria Chronicles 1.

I understand if you're doing this for cheaper prices but from a consumer perspective the Xbone X is poor value and offers you less options than either competition while skimping out on basic things like actually putting games on discs and I say this as someone who owns an Xbone X and SeX. The only reason I own these things is because I like certain types of games on them, not because it plays anything better or stuff is cheaper on it.

I got an xbox one S all-digital edition for 150eu 4-5 years ago, without having the desire to do so before, obly because it was so cheap. Now i mostly game on it instead of the pc, with the exception of 3 games that arent available on console.

It's not a "console warrior thing", it's a practicality thing. Any reason you could have for an Xbone right now in this day and age doesn't really make sense. Everything has been ported off of it outside of Forza like the other guy said, opting for an Xbone X over a SeS if you're specifically looking at BC games makes no sense because physical copies are more expensive and it's not using the physical copy to do anything other than authorize a digital download, most games don't even have physical copies on Xbone but they do on PS4 or Switch, and many games that do have physical copies aren't entirely on the disk like on other platforms or come with issues that aren't present on other platforms.

The most basic example I can give you is that Xbone Yakuza 7 has a game breaking bug on the disk making it unplayable and requiring a download:
https://www.doesitplay.org/game/Yakuza%3A Like a Dragon - Day One Edition/xone/Series X BC?region=PEGI&version=Day Ichi Edition
While PS4 doesn't:

My mistake, I thought the PS5 link was BCing the PS4 copy, not the standalone PS5 copy. Point being that in general you are looking at performance or other issues on Xbox that aren't present on Switch or PS4 while also getting worse physical copies or no physical copies at all.

I understand if you want to get it for the fact it's a $130ish console, but buying one if you own a PC or have the option for a Switch or PS4 makes zero sense at all. Even a PS4 Pro is like $200 nowadays and has actual exclusives and way more physical copies of games.

No, but it means you have far more games available to you that aren't available on other platforms. Even if you want to argue exclusives don't matter in this context then the simple fact that there are far more physical copies of games available on things like Switch or PS4 are still a benefit as that leads to lower costs for more games as a whole and actual ownership of way more games.

Play wherever you want. I have a backlog that will last ne til I die. I'm confused why op needed to be met with pushback at all. It's literally correct. Nobody plays xbox and a lot of the Xbox owners are digital only fags so there's a lot of decent shit to buy/collect on the cheap compared to Nintendo and Playstation or any retro faggot reseller market.

The issue is that the stuff there is to collect isn't always on the disk, many of the games you will be buying aren't being played physically on the actual system in the case of Xbox and 360 games and are usually cheaper digitally on top of that, many of the games you would want likely don't even have a physical copy, and you're primarily only going to find multiplats you can find on other platforms for that same price but either worse performance or a worse physical release.

It's absolutely true that there's more availability for certain things on the Xbones and Series systems because less people are buying them leading to lower costs, but you get caveats with that when the competition is like $50 more at best and doesn't have any caveats basically at all. You essentially have to only want multiplat games that play better on something most people likely already have like a PC or a Playstation and even with multiplat games not all of them have physical copies, especially if you're jumping to Japanese games.

>>717938320
Xbone X has the same issues the PS4 Pro does where the higher end specs caused devs to get a bit stupid and make performance profiles that sometimes make the game run worse than base Xbones or PS4s with no way to ignore it. A huge chunk of Xbone games were also either 720p or 900p and 30 FPS which the Xbone X does nothing to whereas the PS4 versions were 1080p almost always so visually you're getting a worse system as well playing those same games.

If you're into screenshotting or making videos the Xbox side of things is also abysmal. Nintendo of all companies has a better video and screenshot system than Microsoft does. The fact that taking a screenshot while an instant replay is being saved in the background corrupts the video recording is insane. It still does this on the SeX, here's when I was playing Jedi: Survivor.

If you want "cheap" games just get a PS4/Pro and pirate everything.
