Nintendo has just decided to ignore all of that. And Bananza seems to imply an origin story iwth Pauline and DK.

The fucking Odyssy game even seems to want to "explain" the change in graphics in past games. Apparently the 8-bit games and graphics are in-world version of virtual reality. So the events occured, but they may be recreations of the original events that we saw in game.

Odyssy team seems dead-set on explaining everything for some reason.

It does make sense for this Pauline to be the granddaughter of the original Lady, but I think that's as far as the connection goes. DKC is built on the foundation set by the arcade games, to the point that it's a separate continuity entirely from the Mario games that picked up right where they left off. That is to say, young Pauline has nothing to do with Odyssey Pauline other than her grandma being based on the same character Odyssey Pauline is. The Mario games are MUCH looser with the very concept of time, but the DK games take that stuff pretty seriously, so I don't think it's a stretch to say the Mario games aren't canon to the DK games.
