I've only really played the original Rorona-Totori-Meruru trilogy (none of the remasters), the Ryza trilogy, the two Sophie games and Atelier Lydia & Suelle. Prior to those my first Atelier experience was Mana Khemia.

I was starting to think my life was a lie, due to the constant refusal of any speedrun event to include C64 or Amiga games. I still don't know the reason for it, it's probably some mix of not being able to get original games, the games being short, and those early home computers not being popular in first place, especially with todays speedrun enthusiasts.

Still, I think that for example a multi-hour Pirates run in the graveyard shift would be awesome. Inb4 run to what? In the days of dance showcases and crowd control races that should not be a problem.

Missed that one, but I remembered the Lotus Turbo Challenge run by Tim, so they indeed do exist. In my mind they were on par with NES/SNES - I only learned much later that this was not the case, especially in the US, who are mostly console babbies. Still, it feels like most marathons ignore them completely, while few might throw in a pity run. I don't understand that, especially in a time people have to invent gimmick categories to keep things interesting, those computers don't have at least a little more representation.

Runners of that sort of thing are a dying breed, TinyTim and RuffledBricks are a massive chunk of the Spectrum runners and the latter basically dropped out of running.
