The PS4 is finally having live service games drop support next year. It's the fact that we haven't had a general Direct at all since launch that's concerning (especially when the Switch 1 era had TWO general Directs at this point in its life). And that Switch 2 exclusive reveals were thinner in its showcase compared to the Switch 1's showcase. And that the first-party exclusives are dominantly spinoffs. And that there's a handful of 2025-slated releases that still don't have release dates when there's only four months left in the year (one of them doesn't even have GAMEPLAY shown yet). These are issues that are only amplified further by Nintendo substantially raising game, accessory, and hardware prices.

There's a need for stronger certainty and assurances when you're asking people to spend $450-500 just to get in and then $70-80 apiece for games ($90 for S2 Editions of certain S1 games with DLC), especially when you're also hiking the prices of your last gen hardware to further funnel people into your new system. Sitting back and burning through the stockpile of goodwill from the Switch 1 is going to work for only so much longer.

It's the Monster Hunter problem that many games run into, the previous game with all the DLC is better than the brand new game until it also gets DLC. Dragon's Dogma 2 is another example of this but it's a more pronounced issue in multiplayer games where content is king.
