XC2 it didn't feel it like it pissed on XC1's ending at all. It was basically "the other side" of the story, but the conclusion stayed very much the same because of how it was executed and lined up, while also doing its own thing.

3 very aggressively took rAlvis, raped his character and destroyed the end of Shulk's journey. I think you're the only one I've seen mention the issue of conflicts of this scale taking place in his lifetime and I agree. Even the world merging event should have happened many years after he was dead, and the old cast should have been allowed to rest.

The real problem is that Nia is in that position at all. Any attempt to make it work sound retarded. Zeke or Morag would have made much more sense with what was established in 2 to be in such a position, but unfortunately they aren't popular enough or as prominent of characters in their respective game to serve as a fitting counterpart to Melia so they went with Nia. Just shows Takahashi is a hack. There is no larger Perfect Works vision like retards romanticise. Its just him and his writers making it up as they go along. Each game is him doing something different each time and seeing if it catches on and if it appeals to more people.

He never planned out a trilogy from the beginning. I'd say his wife is the better writer and was really the one who spearheaded most of the old Xeno themes and character writing. Takahashi just comes up with an overall direction and his anime writers fill it all in.

The truth is that hardcore 3fags will never be able to cede an inch about it having shortcomings, because the game was hyped from the word go as this epic big-brain masterpiece for smart and philosophical people.

That image of what they believe 3 to be, and what they believe liking that image says about them makes them feel good. Admitting that 3 like most other RPG games to ever exist does some really stupid shit at times, would be a massive ego death to them. Thus anything 3 did wrong must be met with excuses and deflection to preserve the idea of perfection that it never actually met. These type exist for the other games but not in such a number, due to those games each having a relatively restrained hype cycle with low expectations.

Awful game.
I cannot believe how bloated it is with micro features and systems that are all ultimately pointless. The combat is insulting because it's literally automatic, you just wait for meters to fill up and occasionally activate them.
All this garbage just gets dumped on you constantly, with tutorials popping up every 3 mins, and for what? The gameplay consists of following a red line from cutscene to custecene.

And don't get me started on the localization with its awful made up swear words. The music is the worst mitsuda has ever done, every theme has that Irish flute/recorder instrument in it so it all sounds like "my heart will go on" by Celine dion...

It's the most bloated game I've played it recent years and just made me itching for a stripped back jrpg that focuses on a straightforward adventure story. Like Grandia or something.
