This game kicked ass and the entire Sonic fanbase just ignored its existence so they could circlejerk Unleashed instead, despite it being a worse game overall.

It's literally worse than 06 and takes the prize as the worst 3D entry in the series. Once you get beyond the first few areas it becomes borderline unplayable and the control scheme/level design is miserable.

The final, ultimate redpill is that very few of the 3D Sonic games are legitimately bad. In fact, you can count the truly terrible entries on one hand.

They just have a very high skill ceiling that rewards memorisation and mastery of the physics and controls; this causes the average gamer to bounce off them because they cannot be brute forced, claiming they are "shit games" because they don't want to take the time to learn them.

Sonic Heroes, for instance, far from being "slippery" has incredibly consistent physics and movement, it just demands that you meet it on its terms. Once it clicks, it never unclicks.

Of course this group of people includes journalists, hence the persistent anti-Sonic stigma. People are thickos who don't want to put any effort in beyond holding a few buttons to generate dopamine, so as soon as legitimate skill is required, it triggers an anger response because they are no longer being coddled to feel like they are good at something. They want to be able to hold right and win, and go "WHAT! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO DODGE THAT!", failing to comprehend the entire point is replaying the stages over and over to become an ace at it.

Once you git gud at 3D Sonic, you unlock platforming godhood. The barrier of entry to smoothbrains is simply too high. And that's okay.

No OP, this isnt a case of it is bad because it was on wii, it is a bad game with bad motion controls. If they made this with wii motion plus, added 4 play styles like smash bros for wii, this would have been a 7/10 easy. But nope, trash controls.

Sonic being "bad" is just an exaggeration from people who like to hate on Sonic, very few of them are downright bad, they're mostly mediocre which, for a franchise with such high highs like Sonic had in its peak, is underwhelming and disappointing, I understand why people are often let down by Sonic, I certainly am, but it's unfair to act like it's that bad too, it's just subpar.

Never got the fuss around this stage. It's a fine change of pace for the 3 minutes it lasts and then it's over and the mechanic is never seen again. Handles alright. Music's gorgeous.

Just unremarkable in every way. Now if you want TRUE terror, I refer you to the apple juice stage and snowboarding stage, both from the 3DS version.

Secret Rings did in fact have fantastic locales, with cool "odd spots" inside of them., and could actually be fun once you're upgraded. But sadly it takes way too long to get going, needing to get well into post game to actually go fast, so I'm not surprised many people never liked it.

Finally someone who thinks for himself. The Parkour mechanic is something I would have loved to have seen more fleshed out in newer games. Also the Zelda DLC was really cool.
