Postwar Japan right at the start of the miracle is a fascinating place, just like pre-WW1, post Russo-Japanese War Taisho Japan is fascinating. There is no Disneyland for this time and place, the only way you can visit is through story.

I watched this anime not too long ago, and man did it make me want to learn how to play Mahjong. It seems like a really fun game, with lots of strategy and mind games. I might re-install one of the Yakuza games and sit down at a table and finally learn how to play this game.

the guy who starts to discard discards the one tile that the guy on the right needs to win
guy on the left deals into a huge af hand right at the start and immediatly loses the game

usually a mahjong game can go 30-40 minutes so it ending so soon is something that almost never happens + getting a starting hand like this is extremly rare aswell

I understand because it's easily the weakest part of Kaiji but I can highly recommend pushing through so you can get to the kino that is One Poker (and the latest arc has been a lot of fun too)

Mahjong is a gambling game, it's not meant for recreation really. Also, getting a hand like that as-is let alone at the start of a match is ridiculously unlikely. I've played at least a combined total of like 100+ hours of mahjong over all the Yakuza games and I've only ever done a Thirteen Orphans once while the AI has done some other Yakuman I can't remember to me once.

It would be like you starting with Exodia two games in a row with it in your starting hand.
