I sort of want to buy one, I've heavily debated it, but really the price combined with Game Key Carts and the poor battery life is enough to have me to hold out for a revision. I think it's just a dumb purchase currently for a lot of people especially when the big games this year are still coming out on Switch 1(Pokemon, Metroid). There's nothing to lose from waiting until there's more games or a new model out. News of MKW being "ruined" is going to deter sales too since that's the biggest reason to buy it, DK seems cool but it's only 20-30 hours and MKW is supposed to be your hold me over game until there's more stuff. I'm not sure how much a 2nd racing game like Kirby Air Riders is really going to get people to buy one around Christmas either.

What stopped me from buying one was realizing that with the Game Key Carts, I wouldn't be buying multiplats on it. So it's a pointless purchase at the moment, Bananza isn't going anywhere and MKW will only get better when more DLC is added. Being a waitfag here seems optimal. If sales somehow do end up stagnating, I think it's because other people also realize that being a waitfag is ideal unless you're a FOMOfag that can't help themselves.

Its going to be a repeat of the 3DS. Initial hype and momentum and then it falls off due to the high price and lack of games. There isn't anything on the horizon with a firm release date and I wouldn't be surprised if Metroid, Kirby or both end up getting pushed into 2026. Not to mention there are plenty on store shelves and Nintendo is about to push out a Pokemon bundle too. Keep an eye on the Black Friday deals because they will probably be pretty good. Then a price drop sometime after Christmas if Pokemon doesn't turn it around.

The only fucking way a "pro" model can work is if nintendo upgrades to the last ARM CPU that still has 32-bit support for backwards compatibility and add an extra stick of DDR5 memeory. Just having an OLED screen isn't enough.

In fact it went months before it saw anything resembling a killer app. I bought the OoT bundle as my first 3DS and I shit you not I had almost nothing else to play for a while. The 3DS didn't get any killer apps until well over half a year after launch.

In contrast, the Switch 2 launched with the new Mario Kart, and a month later Donkey Kong Bananza released with strong reception from both critics and users. In two months it's already moved more units than the 3DS could in six months. Being a repeat of the 3DS was the worst possible scenario, and that's no longer possible at the rate the Switch 2 is selling.
