It just isn't fun
They spent too much time on the dlc before realizing it wasn’t great, then rushed out a half-baked version anyway.

The DLC is fine, I think I only have a few issues with them:
- The final planet feels half baked
- Gleba should have better enemies
- Ships shouldn't have "width" as determining speed characteristic, wtf is that about

>- Gleba should have better enemies
Other planets should have enemies. No the worms in their cuckboxes don't count as enemies.
>- Ships shouldn't have "width" as determining speed characteristic, wtf is that about
The space physics is retarded as fuck. The 10 m/s static velocity modifier towards whatever planet you're closest to, and the width-based "drag" factor is also confusing and retarded. I can understand why they did the velocity, but the width thing is just plain fucking retarded given the weight already changes how much thrust affects the speed. The least they could have done to make it make sense would be to make the small asteroids leech off some of your momentum when they collide with the platform, but they did it in the most lazy and retarded way possible.

Gleba was 100% rushed.
And Aquillo was unfinished. They literally revealed the expansion with Aquillo's brain floating enemy, and then they scrapped it.
What a fucking crock of shit.
Honestly. What a disappointment.
Not to mention the rocket launching is easier but unfinished. They fucked up and should have worked on it to make it more accessible. Everything should be able to be automated without having to resort to network circuitry nonsense all the time.
Or at the very VERY least, if that's necessary, then make a fucking tutorial for it.
But they're lazy like you said. These assholes don't care about new players at all.
Even veterans hated the expansion.
Doshington is literally not doing any videos on it because he fucking hates it but can't come out and say it cause the devs might get defensive.

I am playing this game now and greatly enjoying it. One of the best games I have played in years. Will be going to vulcanus shortly. However, seeing as you have made a whiny nothing thread with no actual criticisms I will wait until this thread dies to make an actual on-topic video game thread for discussion and posting gameplay.

The only thing I dont like about the DLC is how hard it is on default settings. You have to be knowledgeable enough to go fast and not make too many mistakes.

I have 64 hours and I didn't even moved on past the oil stage.............. Also I finished the free demo too before playing the game, so I didn't start cold turkey...........

But I dropped the game years ago. It's a very good game, but it's like a second job. I want to be a degenerate and chill, not THINKING

Gleba was "finished" (it was basically just 30 different types of trees that dropped entire resources, like a plastic tree, lubricant tree (you can still see the pipe on the agri tower where the lubricant was supposed to come out)), but they dropped it down to 2 right at the last minute because they felt like it was too easy. It's likely that their experience working on all the other shit allowed them to turn it into a more fulfilling/better experience when they redid it, and they really should have done the same to the other planets.

The first three planets are fun. Aquilo is lame as fuck and the shattered planet ending is beyond disappointing. When I saw that the final science was literally "NUMBER GO UP" I quit playing that save after Aquilo and waited for new mods.
They could have at least tossed in some alternative space platform items/upgrades instead of just leaving it all to quality. Hell, even a different textured space platform that looked "finished" would have been neat to show we're closer to making the original ship we crashed on.

There were people here on /v/ and in /egg/ that got invited to the LAN party right before the release of the game and Gleba wasn't anywhere close to what it is now. Iron and copper had to be mined from tiny patches, biolabs didn't exist, and tons of recipes were grindy and awful. After the LAN players voiced these concerns they quickly went back to the drawing board and basically redid Gleba entirely.
If you don't believe the other anons or me you can literally read the devs talk about it here.

Anonymous No.718248314
It's grossly unfinished.
I expected more new enemies on Nauvis, maybe some neutral creatures, birds or deer or something.
All the new planets seem plain and boring. Gleba is the most interesting and it sucks. Just send a tank and destroy everything red nearby and you will never have to build base defenses. Vulcanus is way too easy. Fulgora has a stupid name and is boring though the lightning mechanic is interesting it's way too easy. Aquilo is painful for no good reason - the heat mechanic is stupid (why can't buildings have their own heaters using electricity? why are heat pipes such a pain in the ass?).
The space platform is an interesting idea but badly implemented. Why can't I have holes in my platform? Why does width affect top speed? Why can't I transfer items between platforms?

And they cut it down to 2 because Earendel was retarded. Then they had to go back and completely change the entire planets progression because the bio portion didn't connect with the ore portion. It was a full pivot

I think this is what really killed it for me. Circuitry used to be optional, but with Space Age it felt almost mandatory to use on spaceships to get anything done that was vaguely optimized. Had to copy & paste spaceships from the web and just hope it worked correctly.

Fulgora really needed it's own enemy. Without one there's no agency, making the planet feel boring.
Personally I like the idea of an enemy that cannot hurt the player, but instead they latch onto accumulators and suck electricity from the grid.
If you ignore them too long, your base will completely run out of power.

gleba>nauvis=>fulgora>>>vulcanus
in terms of how interesting each planet is to play on

Also quality is a shit mechanic that actively makes the game worse, never research that garbage, unfun AND overpowered

I did a gleba only run where i start there, and it was painful, but when you're figuring it out, a lot of fun. It's legitimately an interesting change to how factories work, and I wish there were more uses for biochambers and mechanics like it. Really my only problem with the planet is the lack of stone, and how in vanilla, coal is locked behind research that requires coal

Fulgora is interesting, but kind of samey. I'd like it more if there was just more going on there in terms of industrial processes (i dont think having enemies would improve it). I think conceptually its very interesting, there's just not enough there.

Vulcanus is just easy and boring, coal runs out but everything else is free. yay

i dont think enemies are the solution to the various issues - to me, it's the agriculture and spoilage that make gleba interesting, and the pentapods are one of its weaker aspects, they're just too strong to reliably defend against, so you just go out with mines or a tonk and pre-emptively clear them.
In general i'd say enemies are only interesting when you HAVE to defend against them, attacking is uninteresting and shouldn't be optimal.

anyway gleba best

the mods that give you a gleba start will make the tech unlock much earlier.
it's never technically required, you could use pipes to block expansions long enough to rush a rocket, get to vulcanus or nauvis, and get coal there, but it's just stupid design, you shouldn't need to jump through these hoops to get military science on the planet where it matters most

What I hate the most is instead of having the new planets unlock 100% new techs, they took previous vanilla tech and locked some of them behind the new planets. So stuff that was relatively easy to unlock before now requires you to travel to a different planet to unlock.
That's incredibly unrewarding and overall feels like a tedious chore.

It's absolutely /vg/ which is why threads are getting faster and faster while the boards is getting slower and slower because most posts are just page 10 bumps and someone puking out threads constantly. If you make more than 2 threads a week you're doing something very wrong. /vg/ is 99% just bumping, which drags the level of discussion to the bottom of the barrel. /vg/ is just a nesting ground for redditors tourists who then transplant themselves here once the tumor has grown large enough. /vg/ is having the opposite effect it was originally intended to have.
