Posting my base because i felt like. Feel free to post yours.

Containment Tram is really a slept on location:
> bit far from lobby but there's the (slowish) tram and at this point you should have unlocked the TP
> but once you unlock the spillways you are 30s away from anywhere in lab/hydroplant/power service/reactors/multiple portal worlds
> big area with two levels that's fun to decorate
> snacks/soda vending machines
> four rooms that connect to it if you wish to expand
> the turrets will destroy any enemy that comes near until the gatekeepers raids , though it's also arguably a downside if you like defending your base

I also considered settling in the manufacturing anteverse pool but the uneven walls seem to be a hassle to deal with. Still I think i'll challenge myself to build there in a future run.

The armour rating is pretty much meaningless, because the damage reduction depends on where you have been hit. If an attack hits your arms, and your arms are unprotected, you take full dmg, even if you have like 60+ armour rating collectively from all other body parts. And you arms get hit most often, because enemies aim for center of your body, and your arms, being in front of you, almost always get in the way. This is also why unupgraded military weapons are so ass. To use them you need biometric arm-bullshit, which take up your arm slot and give no armor, but your arms are the most important part of your body to protect.

The game would be a lot better if it borrowed things from Terraria. Make all the NPCs you meet people you can house and trade with instead of so many of them being one-off exposition devices, and make fishing have better and better fishing rods and baits with more "fishing power" that makes you catch fish faster, be able to fish up boxes of materials that gives you the materials of an area so you don't always have to wait for portal world resets, and make the Canaan dude an Angler NPC that gives you quests each day to get a very good quality of life item.

Two mediums covers one stack of every crafting material I've needed so far. The four small crates are for food, armour, weapons, and medicine respectively. I've got stack sizes bumped up a little, but I could always break down those desks in the work room if I needed more crate space.

This place was really nice for early game after I got bullied out of my first base by a robot, but I might move somewhere more scenic when I can afford a portal network.

It's not random, it's that batteries charge is consumed twice for devices connected to batteries. Makeshift Battery holds 50 power so it can power a single device for 250 seconds. If you have Battery #1 > Battery #2 > Device, the first battery is consumed twice as fast as both devices are considered connected to it, so the total charge power Device gets is 75, and it only gets worse as you chain more batteries.

This is Doctor Derek Manse, Research director at Cascade. A member of the janitorial staff was caught deleting sensitive information on our local network. Our first guess was, of course, sabotage, but we have no records from accounting of this man ever receiving a paycheck. Indeed, the very concept of payment seems to confuse him during interrogation. Even more peculiar, he refuses to, or can't, eat any food offered to him... Except for chicken nuggets and Hot Pockets. I'm sure the idea of free staff is tantalizing to GATE, but until we know more about this "Janitor," I have no choice but to recommend IS containment.

Thumper, snowfall is a downgrade.
Thumper deals acid damage which most human enemies in the game are weak against, and there's almost no natural resistance/immunity (literally just larvaes and skink), so overall it deals a lot more damage.
Snowfall loses acid for cold, a shitty gimmick (frozen for 0.5 seconds) which several enemies are either resistant or outright immune to (including enemies that were weak against the Thumper, like the snow Order troops), so it does a lot less damage.

Also don't actually finish shitting.
Spam the toilet, getting on adn off until you get zapped.

check your poop meter when you spam it because just the act of sitting makes you shit yourself a bit and drops your poop meter
you used to be able to remove power to the portal toilet to stop it decreasing your poop meter and still trigger the warp, but i dont know if they fixed that in 1.0

Zombies are weak. Swing to the head is enough.
There just are a lot of them if you can't find the final button.
No zombies will ever spawn if you do not press even a single button. Use that opportunity to scout the store to locate the button locations before pressing any of them. Also to loot furniture and boxes.
