I liked 3H but one playthrough was enough. The moninstary sucks and having to replay the first 10 chapters again to get to the route split isn't fun. At least Engage has better maps and gameplay which makes it better to replay.

Well yeah, everyone figured that one out. Engage should have been sprinkled here and there. One unit on a seasonal banner, for example. Instead, it routinely gets the most content. 50% of the last two Fallen banners were Engage. Every three months is a new Emblem.

This one, we don't really know. Maeda is the head of Heroes, and he clearly plays favorites. He's been a producer on several of the other projects, and people he trained are the ones leading those. Fire Emblem has literally always had an anime aesthetic, and 3H's is about as genericly josei/otomege in art style as you can get. Engage is no more or less "anime" than any other game in the series, it's simply a different anime style.

If they wanted to it probably wouldn't be too hard to engineer a general 3DS to Switch 2 conversion engine for the 3DS titles at higher res and with touched up or ML-upscaled assets. That they were still porting 3DS games to Switch in 2024 makes it likely we could see that still continue. I wonder if Nintendo feel cagey enough about FE release cadence that they wouldn't do this. because it's a meandering mess of a plot written by maeda. it has a villain who can do incredible things with seemingly no limitations because his source of magic is so underexplained and he's constantly teleporting great distances. it has a leading heroine who does nothing but stand on the sidelines and bicker. it has a horrific scale issue as the main antagonistic force is a guild of assassins, but there's far too many of them to be hidden as the plot presents them. it fails as a prequel to fe6 because it introduces too many plot elements that fe6 doesn't ever mention.
