Outlines are good but inverted hull only looks good on guilty gear models or something more retro like Wild Arms on PS2 or JSRF. Screenspace outlines are wonderful, however.

Sure, It's how box modeling and making blockouts for sculpts is done, but a standard workflow of working in ZBrush is a little different.
2D Guides are pretty unreliable and most of the time it requires the modeler to have a lot of intuition if the illustrator straight up designs something that doesn't work in 3D.

My only real issue with it is that its models don't really make uses of additional texture maps like ILM Maps/ normal editing to allow say, the folding on the clothing to mimic the intentionality of actual anime but I say it gets the job done. That shit takes too long anyways for most devs.
Although I might be wrong, since the tail and face clearly have had some work done to prevent blobby shadows from showing up.

I'm not into the technical details but even generally I'm not sure how the shadows in the game function, they're not baked in but they're definitely not normal self-shadowing either since you never see shadows cast by people's arms waving around.
Still, I think they decided to focus more on the variety of animations for characters than the model quality. Especially since it was initially a phone game.
