They have worse MVs than standard curved swords, a worse selection of Ashes of war and overall just horrible itemization given there's only three of them and out of those only two are vaguely good.
Backhand Blade is the only really useful one that doesn't rely on meme builds and even there it's just a worse version of powerstanced curved swords with two rather mediocre ashes of war, only real use for them is DEX/ARC builds and even there both of those would be way better off powerstancing curved swords.
Smithscript Cirque's only real value outside of letting you cosplay as Xena is that it's a decent quality weapon with ranged R2s for PvP mixups, but it has absolutely dogshit posture damage and being a quality weapon means it will only catch up to the other two at really high levels, and even there you're stuck with some terrible R2s that are only vaguely good for PvP.
Curseblade Cirque's only reason to exist is for pure DEX instakill guard counter builds on PvP, on PVE it's largely a meme because it can't go up to 60 Guard, meaning it won't do much against any large boss, it's also a somber weapon so it lacks versatility and the ash of war is dogshit for anything that isn't rollcatching people in PvP, and even there it's not really all that good.
Backhand blades are only good on PvP because they have that bullshit run R1 that lets them apply infinite pressure, in PvE they're just decent.
