If this game gets custom game modes the same way Dota 2 has, I can definitely see a hackjob CTF mode if you lose your items on death and the items are rebalanced so that someone with a full kit isn't completely unkillable when fighting people who are fresh from respawn. Maybe make it so as you level/time goes on the amount of money you spawn with increases so you aren't completely dead weight when you come back from dying.

Yes. Advancing creep waves puts pressure on the lanes. Towers will prioritize them if creeps enter their range first meaning players can shoot at them with impunity. Once the towers are gone it’s an unobstructed path towards the enemy base.
Pushing randomly isn’t necessarily a good thing though. You could just be giving the other team a bunch of your creeps to farm from the safety of their side of the map uncontested.

It is. MOBAs are very knowledge check heavy and the item shop is a huge part of that. It plays a big role in understanding matchups, situation, etc… In Deadlock though the color of each item is it’s general function: orange improves your standard shooting attacks, green is health/defense, and purple improves hero abilities.
Luckily you can also check out recommended community builds in match. These are general purpose builds usually and while they obviously don’t account for the aforementioned matchups or current situation it’s much better than just buying random crap.

The Moba aspect is the part that makes it pretty unique. Smite was a 3rd person moba but it was mostly flat. This is a true 360 degree game and the combination of skill required for macro economics and then micro decisions with movement and aiming make it, I genuinely believe, one of the hardest competitive games out there.

I haven't played in a while because the game kind of fucked over most of its players by making a second super secret alpha that released all the heroes and we had to wait, so I just decided to wait for the next major update. I was pretty good at the game, my MMR was high enough that my games were usually on the first or second page. Not one of the top tier guys, but decent enough. Was active in the community before it became utterly infested by "you know whos" that basically ruined it.

The game will always be divisive. It is EXTREMELY skill based with an exceptionally high skill ceiling that means most people will bounce off of it and that is not elitist talk. It takes a lot of work to git gud and when you're not gud it is miserable and unfun to play. Valve will have to address this if they want mainstream adoption.
