FACT:
If your melee-based 3D action game doesn't have a camera lock-on feature, it's automatically a piece of shit and you need to learn basic game design

If a game is focused on swarm encounters why would it need lock on?

What about boss fights?

lock on is shit and removes positioning from the gameplay

If you believe gameplay mechanics should be standardized and every game pushed towards a more generic universal design you're the cancer killing video games.

Not every 3d action game should control like souls, not every FPS should play like CoD, it's good that games feel different to play.

My game will use IJKL instead of WASD and you cannot rebind the keys

Back in my day I played action games not only without lockon but also without any camera control save a button that recentered it behind you

Maybe stop being a little baby, not everything needs to be a completely frictionless experience

Based based based based based

Dying not because you misplayed, but because something outside of your control (the camera) fucked you over is objectively bad game design. If you like "frictional experiences" so much, maybe go play a buggy mess of a game

More games should adapt chiv2 combat, I hate souls like combat and roll slop

Lock-on is a crutch, learn to play.

Learn to design a half-decent game

You still died because you misplayed. Position yourself better. You're playing an action game, not a rhythm game, there are aspects besdies reacting to something when it happens.

Even in those early games you have that minor control of the camera and can position it yourself, and we're not even talking a out that. I played MH for like a decade with zero lockon and did fine.

Stop asking for every game to be a lubed up anus that shoots you to the credits screen. I don't know how people like you get through life. Do you scream BAD DESIGN everything something goes awry in your day to day? Jesus, nut up a little.

Games with lock-on are harder than games without lock-on. Because games without lock-on have to account for the shitty camera by making the enemies easier. Games with lock-on, conversely, are purely skill-based

kek lmao, this is about more than difficulty

You know any other hobby in the world has obstacles you run into and shit that goes wrong, right? Sometimes shit is inconvenient, but in this case it can be avoided just by not playing like a dipshit.

Devs literally code in shit where enemies won't attack as often or at all if they're not on camera because of little bitch babies like you btw

This.

It's why I'm one of the few that prefers Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro over Spider-Man (2000).

Ironic considering Enter Electro was way more bullshit than Neversoft's game
