the enemies didn't have enough variety in what they did
there's a pretty interesting system in there with Viktor being a tank, edgyboy having an HP manip playstyle, Yumia and Dog having special mana mechanic and the items having a lot of interesting traits and so on but there's just no enemies to use any of this stuff on, it all boils down to, dodge orange shit, throw diable pots at the problem, dump attacks, you're never forced to do much else and what's even more important enemies never guard anything or reward much of interest so you're not even incentivized to fight them
it's hard to suggest how to fix combat in Yumia because realistically it's basically even all there
And! god forbid you actually engage with the alchemy and craft yourself a good gear because you quickly outscale all opposition and all that changes on the highest difficulty they patched in way later is that now you have to make gear for the entire party rather than just your preferable unit so that they don't die in one hit
