Why bother assigning my character a first name if the game has no dialogue for using it?

Immersion, anon. Even if the game doesn’t say it out loud, seeing your character’s name pop up in the menu, journal logs, or even when saving gives some semblance of identity. It’s like naming your Tamagotchi. No one else cares, but now you feel bad if you let them die.

I made an old black guy Shepard for the first game and then made default femshep for the second and third games. It makes sense lore-wise because Cerberus reconstructed his body and fixed his black niggerness.

i get the default meshes use some kind of custom baked-in lighting but fem customs look so, so much worse than the male ones

Vanguard gets completely broken in 3 and trivializes the combat if you use it optimally. When upgraded, the charge + nova combo makes you both eternally invulnerable and deals massive damage at the same time AND stuns enemies. There's maybe a split second in between the cooldowns where the enemy can do damage and then your shields are immediately up again and you're charging without the ability to take any damage.
I had to stop myself from using it all the time to have any fun in combat.

I hate Batarians so fucking much. When I crashed the Alpha Relay I wasn't even thinking of stopping the Reapers I just was thinking of killing as many Batarians as possible. 300 000 wasn't enough and I'd do it again even if the Galaxy wasn't at risk hell I'd crash another relay right now if it results in just one more Batarian death. I'd gladly trade every last Batarian life to delay the Reapers a single day but I bet even Reapers would rather nuke these bugs from orbit than harvest their defective bug DNA. I'd rather fall from the orbit again than look at another Batarian. I'd rather fuck an Ardat Yakshi than hear a Batarian speak. I'd rather drink the missing colonists DNA smoothie Collectors used to make the proto Reaper than be in the same room as a Batarian. I'd rather dive straight into a pool of Krogan diarrhea than speak to a Batarian. I'd rather take a bath in Vorcha septic tank than touch a Batarian.
