I love him because of his mentality. He wanted to achieve his perfect form and when he finally did the first thing he did was organize a tournament to test his new body and test his abilities. Most villains in Dragon Ball don't share the same mentality as the protagonist. But Cell is a rare exception as he has the same mentality as Goku (but an evil version of that mentality). Cell has that Saiyan dog in him. His Saiyan genes really show and shine through via his actions.
that arc started by Goku and Vageta refusing to kill Dr Gero even though the Androids were confirmed to kill them due to being stronger than them.
Then you had Vageta allowing Gero to activate the Androids during the heat of battle.
Then you had Vageta refusing to kill semi-perfect Cell and allowing him to allowing him to get his perfect body.
Then you had Cell refusing to kill his enemies and instead inviting them to a grand tournament in 10 days.
Then you had Goku coming out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and measuring himself up against Cell in the days before the Cell Games begun. Goku realized he's weaker than Cell and was a little scared of the fight, but he was also incredibly excited for the fight.
This entire saga happens due to the Saiyan warrior mentality. So it's fitting that it's final villain also poses that mentality. That's why I love Cell. Cell has Goku's DNA but he also has his mindset. It's like an evil Goku being the final villain of the arc.
I also love that Perfect Cell had that, and excuse my appropriation of Gen z slag, but he had that nonchalant, laid back, cool headed attitude and vibe to him (despite being evil). He was on the right wavelength tbqh. So yeah of course we love Cell. He's my dawg fr
