Never played Stardew Valley. Not even interested in those types of "farming" games, but I really like the guy and the story behind the game. I have genuine respect for him.
The thing is he did what he wanted to do. His project is done. Sure he could make sequel or whatever, but if he doesn't have the drive for it, it'll suck or never even get finished. At this stage he's just reaping the final benefits of his work. Just ignore the gatcha if you don't like it.

They tried to push two patches at the same time and broke everything, game became unplayable for a lot of people for almost all month. Plus they replaced the original intro sequence for a new one that's not comfy at all to explain co-op, and also made a move for outfits with more pieces that require more gacha attempts.
