They did what AAA companies have been trying and failing to do for years: they figured out how to appeal to the normalfags.
When the game released, the devs had a clearly stated vision. Helldivers 2 was supposed to be a very challenging game as you climbed the difficulty levels. Players were expected to die often and use teamwork.
Thanks to absolutely disastrous PR and an incompetent retard in charge of weapon balance, Arrowhead was forced to shift their focus into leaning into a complete power fantasy.
Now, ranged enemies literally cannot hit you except by accident. Everything is programmed to shoot near you for "cinematic effect" rather than actually attempt to kill you. Enemy spawn rates are down, every enemy deals reduced damage and has less armor, and every Helldiver weapon blows through them all effortlessly. The highest difficulty level, Super Helldive, is currently indistinguishable in challenge from Easy.
But it works because everything looks cool. Every single clapping seal LE DEMOCRUSSY retard can jump into Difficulty 10, see a billion lasers shooting past them (but never actually landing) and think they're badasses.
