absolutely nothing from this gameplay impressed me. I feel like the game itself has a great idea for a horror game, but it's almost like it doesn't allow itself to be scary. Everything feels so scripted. Even though the monster is creepy, it doesn't seem to be that much of a threat, it moves so slow. It's like the devs really want the player to have a "fair" chance against the monster, but that's exactly the opposite effect that a good scary game should have. You're supposed to panic, the monster is supposed to outrun you, and not the other way around.

I think the proportions make it look kind of awkward, not just the eyes. It looks like they wanted to make it big but then scaled it down so it would fit in the hallways, whereas what they should have done is create another creature like Marguerite whose animations allow her to extend out her arms on all the walls and ceilings instead of awkwardly crouch.

Watch the latest footage again and you can literally see the monster is struggling to pathfind a little in the hallway and keeps getting stuck on shit like parts of the wall and stuttering. It needs better animations and to interact with the terrain better. The Bunker made a bunch of big areas and holes for him to crawl out of for a reason

Yeah, I agree; the animations need to be a lot more fluid and the pathfinding needs to be a lot better so that it doesn't get stuck on terrain. You can see it really clearly in that one webm where it shoves the medical cart at Grace; it just awkwardly stands there for a few seconds after whiffing its grab attack, then does a little shuddery sidestep as it goes into the cart pushing animation.

My hope is that people playing the demo will comment on stuff like that often enough for Capcom to do something about it, especially if this really is a stalker type enemy that will be following you throughout multiple parts of the game.

I do actually like the weird awkward proportions though, but I think the eyes should have stayed covered and not revealed like they are now. In the 30th anniversary image you can just see the monster's mouth with bandages or hair covering its face, and I think that would have been a pretty good look.

ngl hearing this game has another Mr. X style stalker character puts me off. My one gripe about RE2 Remake is that Mr. X is omnipresent across any playthrough instead of being confined to a B scenario, otherwise I probably would've replayed it countless more times, but they just had to lean into it.

I mean I'd be terrified if I saw a monster like that in real life and I do feel a rush of fear/adrenaline whenever I'm relaxed and suddenly get exposed to a jumpscare. But any amount of fear/adrenaline only lasts for a few seconds and I tend to quickly return to my normal self.

Maybe my brain is fried. When I was a teenager I would try to smoke as much weed as I could and then either go ride a rollercoaster or go see a horror movie at the mall. Me and my buddies would just scream and laugh like retards the entire time.
