The only "scary" interaction I've had with it was during the tarasque fight when it decided to block my path while being chased

only bad part of the leyak was being conned by the game into wasting an inventory slot on the stupid xray flashlight. we should've been able to make an xray headlamp later in the game. the reaper was spookier for the first one or two spawns.

Since the dark energy update, outlets don't actually turn off during day hours in night only mode, so you can craft your first battery no problem. I'd personally prefer outlets were off permanently instead of having to restrict myself since the temptation is always there, but I'll make an effort to keep true to the run.

It's solid, good single player, excellent in 2 player co-op but it definitely gets worse the more people you have.

Got the game yesterday and having a blast so far. Working on level 3 after finding where the power core was from the dude in the ceiling on level 3.
Made my base in the obvious starter base location in that breakroom next to the kitchen with the tv urging you to make a battery for your work bench and the couch to sleep on. Pretty well stocked on supplies and dont really feel like consolodating the cubicle farm on 2. Lot of pcs and stuff to loot, and a lot of weapon xp for breaking them all, but its kind of just a lot. Might build up some carts and try to get it all done in a single day wreckingball style, because Im guessing that cart return can be pretty easy cheesy for loot grinding.
I think its on track to be maybe the best survival craft game Ive played. I mean, Im still in the honeymoon phase with it but theres just enough depth to everything to make it all fun and engaging. I think one of my biggest gripes is that the crafting and items seem a bit bloated. Like, its a bit much. Also, the artstyle is nice in some areas, but it others it looks like just a low effort copout. Some of the things look bad because they dont quite meet the quality line, and other stuff looks bad because it got overdesigned past its retro-ness. Theres a lot that fall inbetween these two points that pulls off the retro aesthetic well, but it could use some more uniformity in quality accross the assets.
Still, just the survival craft elements of this game scratch that autistic itch like no other and the skills and stuff are a real nice touch.

For a survival crafting game it's very good. I can't stop playing it, I think it's the metroidvania progression,the Dark Souls 1 style interconnected world, the mad science theme with the crazy shit you can build and the mix of Half-life and early SCP for the setting. It's just an (almost) perfect mix of nice ideas that have all been done before separately but as one single game it all blends in so well.
I hear endgame is a bit of a slog though. I wouldn't know, I'm still in the labs (third section you unlock)

Absolutely amazing spot imo. It feels close to everything and you only have to defend the long-ass bridge to it. Thirty seconds to Flathill through the portal, ten seconds to the Blacksmith to buy shit, tram to the Offices hub or later you can just sprint through the crossroads, super lategame the other door on the bridge opens to a great shortcut to Residences.

You gotta pair them. There's nothing stopping you from carrying one with you to pair to another back at base for a quick hop back and forth, just make sure all of your pads are on batteries - the game doesn't check for power status until the pad is loaded, so if you warp away to one at nighttime it suddenly turns off.

Not all of them are hostile, but a lot of them are. Plus perforation events are naturally occuring albeit rare.

If you liked reactors you should like Shadowgate as well. Though you should know two things beforehand:
- At some point you'll have to backtrack to craft an item to progress, I recommend making at least 9 of thise items.
- Bit of a spoiler, but Shadowgate ends by TPing you to an other big area. The first thing you should do is take the portal the other which will actually take you back to Intrados AND open a portal from Intrados to that second location.

It took me waaaay too long to figure out the second one.

It's bretty good but it's got some pretty big balance issues here and there. Biggest one is that conventional firearms are just a fucking joke. You're lucky if an enemy drops 3-4 bullets, your options for trading for bullets are a joke, and there's no way to craft them. Plus using any regular guns other than the basic bitch pistol requires you to reach accuracy 7 first if I remember correctly and even then to use them you need to craft and wear special gloves to use them. All that would be somewhat acceptable if regular guns packed a punch but they don't. Every science gun you can craft, even the scrap guns, are superior to regular firearms and more importantly, you can actual craft damn ammo for them.

Doin apocalypse for my 2nd run with maxed out respawn timers. Just finished mushroom land and its been pretty chill so far. Wondering if I should up enemy damage and health. How are reactors and onward on regular apocalypse. My first run was on normal but 3 player count and it seems the same as my apocalypse solo. I wish I could just crank the spawns even higher instead of bloating the enemy stats

I'm going to be honest about this. I think all the cool stuff you unlock from reactors onward doesn't have enough time to "settle in" and be useful due to how short residences to the final boss is. That is if you're somebody like me who focused on the story and progression first and foremost. Basically it feels like the sandboxy/survival elements of the game fall off hard by that point. Never had a need to make some of the later unlocks, because if I did they'd only get a relatively minuscule amount of usage before beating the game.
I am interested in their future plans for the game. Especially if we get something like a big expansion/dlc. Like how something like that would work with our end-game characters.

After working my way around the green room I found a 3 or 4 story building with a shortcut door over to the tunnel blacksmith and the trolly station. Theres a small tainted water source right by it in that tunnel.
