They said they spent the extra time making more endings. So my /hope/ is it will play more like Cyberpunk, which delt reactive but really just boiled down to a handful of choices at the end. Actually VTMB boils down to mostly choose your ending as well. But the Malk passenger feels a lot like Johnny and I’mma guess two main branches are if he takes you over or if you make him go away. Then whatever the ritual plot is.

VTMB barely has character creation except choosing a Clan, which 2 also has. Admittedly, that's presumably a lot bigger impact on how you experience 1 (and not necessarily in a good way).

Guns suck ass in 1. Looks like you can grab them temporarily during combat in 2 as a Power. And the melee action is obviously going to be miles better in 2; combat in general in 1 is pretty bad.

2 has a Map with quest markers which pretty much replaces 1's quest journal.

Humanity and Frenzy were 99% of the time meaningless fluff unless you played retarded on purpose.

The rest like stats, security skills, missing Clans and paywalled shit, are all valid criticisms people should rightly be mad at. I just find it weird how people criticize 2 for things the first one wasn't even that strong on. Stat checks aside (which is like Seducing your way forward in a quest vs. finding a nearby air vent or something), you are basically a set character in 1 with some flavour dialogue options. Not like it was some endlessly deep "true RPG". 2 is the same but in a more modern "cinematic" way, as you are Fyre and voiced, with the same flavour approach to dialogue responses.

I will add the small caveat, however, that until you become sheriff there are no side missions and you aren't allowed to move freely. Some people complained about not being able to visit atrium for example. You're allowed to visit atrium after you become sheriff. Once you're sheriff, in between main story missions you'll have a bunch of side mission icons on the map you can pursue. It's very similar to what the first game did.

my issue here from a marketing perspective is that they should release a walkthrough showing what the game is like once you leave the tutorial. All the current footage is from the tutorial where you're still being guided from A to B to C. The Radbrad footage ends with the player about to go visit Ryong to discuss the issue with the current Sheriff going off the rails. That's when you will end up deposing him and becoming sheriff yourself.

The problem with the stat/character sheet is partly psychological impact.
The game could have a level of granularity similar to Alpha Protocol in letting the player define the MC in play, through choices, but the trouble is then that it only becomes apparent on replay just how much you made the character yours.
Conversely, a character sheet could have little to no impact, but at least the player feels like the character belongs to him it's beeen defined from the start.

Let me get this straight. Paradox allowed The Chinese Room to take the game's story DLC and integrate it into the main story to "bulk it out" and give the game more content, more story depth, all that stuff. It's basically the anti-Dead Island 2, where Dead Island 2 had the Haus chapter (which has basically every important story twist) cut out and sold as DLC.

People talk a lot about optics. There was no real way to win here because the game was never going to have a season pass. They had story DLC planned, but they added it to the base game instead, leaving the premium edition anemic content-wise.

I understand people being frustrated, but this was a no-win situation. There are people claiming they should have artificially held back the DLC clans because the Day 1 DLC stigma. So basically giving people a worse product on purpose at launch so nerds don't get their feelings hurt.

The problem is that they sold preorders several years ago for things like the Blood Moon Edition (which was 90 American dollars). They're committed to delivering something resembling that. They had to create content exclusive to these editions. Originally it was one clan to play as in the main campaign, and one standalone clan. Jury's still out on that one. The Fabien segments have use of social disciplines (Auspex to read the houghts of the interlocutor, Mask of a 1000 faces to impersonate an interlocutor, Dominate to erase memories), we don't know if the MC segments have some or not for now.

I did actually. When it came out. Then I played the patched version a month ago. Having a fledgeling turn to weapons makes some sense but only because they’re supposed to suck. Melee weapons are at least powered in part by your vampiric speed and strength. But ultimately it’s the disciplines that are the star.
If the criticism is the disciplines should not be just combat focused I agree. However trying to make John Actionman shooting guns at vampires was dumb in vtmb.

If you guys haven't yet played Bloodlines 1, I recommend the Absolutely Unofficial True Patch Platinum. The name is supposed to be ironic, speedrunners created it and use this instead of we5p's Unofficial Patch because it's much closer to the original vanilla game and doesn't add or change any content (which the Basic version began doing a couple years back). All it does is fix the two bugs that stop you from launching the game on modern hardware, and adds an FPS limit toggle so you don't get stuck in doors or elevators due to how Source games work.
Of course you could also use we5p's Unofficial Patch, but your mileage may vary on the actual experience. He never did move the dinosaur back to its original spot.

It entirely depends on the Kindred. They start being able to gain dots past 5 (the maximum for a mortal) at 7th generation. But you could have an absolute monster at just 8th generation, the difference is that with time the lower generation Kindred will become walking nightmares. But time is the key, which is something ironically a lot of Kindred do not have when they are that low of generation. This is because of the Jyhad, the eternal game of cat and mouse. If you're playing the first time a lot of people will waste money buying ammo because they spend a lot of it when it's not necessary and their character still sucks at guns. Unless you spec for it they're pretty bad, so it's easy to waste money buying pistol ammo, especially if you don't do a lot of the sidequests and sell items you know you will never need. Rule of thumb is that melee is king at the beginning but kinda shit at the end, and vice versa for guns.
