I have the pro 2. I kinda want this just for the locked triggers. The rest of the gimmicks don't interest me, but I really dislike triggers when I just want to tap R2/L2.

I just had their mod kits for the N64 and GameCube controllers arrive.

The N64 controller install is basically flawless and impressive, the GameCube controller mod i don't really like the charging cable/port, they send you a 10cm long cheap cable, and his brings me to the next point, its a huge risk using these modkits, I've got both of them working 100% on emulators on PC but they aren't as easy as just buying controllers from Nintendo directly.

Was the plastic bracket that fits the shoulder buttons difficult for you to install? Mine was kind of loose.

Also the plastic that fits in the charging port is kind of loose or shaky, it's not going to fall out but compared to the N64 controller it all feels a little bit more janky

I believe it uses the same dpad as the ultimate 2 they released a few months back if you can look up videos on that. I don't play fighting games but based on how it feels to the original I would guess it's much better at registering diagonals, but again look up videos and don't take my word for it.

Flydigi's the only brand that requires leaving software running in the background for full functionality, though I think at least some of their modern stuff is Steam Input supported now.
Gamesir and BigBig Won have feature-rich software that saves everything to the controller's onboard memory, so if you know exactly what you want you can set it up once and uninstall.
Other brands' software is typically more limited than what you could do with Steam Input, DS4Windows, or JoyShockMapper anyway, if they even have software.

The original Cyclone's shit, since Gamesir was primarily a wired controller brand up till that point and wasn't using good wireless components yet
Cyclone 2 is incredibly good for its msrp, let alone what it's usually discounted to. I prefer membrane to mechanical so I like something like Gulikit Elves 2 more overall, but if you want a feature-rich controller or prefer mechanical buttons it's an absolute steal. My only real complaint is the shell's thin plastic feels cheap, but I imagine that was a necessary cost-cutting corner. D-pad has some odd quirks in feel, but aside from rev1 it's accurate in all eight directions and good for any genre.

If it's for Switch 2, Gulikit Elves 2 and ES/ES Pro are the only third parties so far with full Switch 2 compatibility, and improved responsiveness over first party
If for Switch 1, most third parties lag on Switch compared to official controllers. Aside from the previous recs, BigBig Won Aether wired and Cyclone 2 wireless are the only things that beat joycons or Switch Pro in responsiveness. All of those third parties plus most others will have better d-pads among other things.

The one asterisk I'll give him is he regards Dualsense as the gold standard for linearity, despite it being measurably not the case, so while he's an absolute stick autist and makes custom curves for sticks, most of it's to simulate a Dualsense feel over anything else. Otherwise he's thorough about a lot of things I wouldn't even consider, such as thumbs touching when using a symmetrical layout on ZD O+, or console input lag being different from PC due to different system polling rates.

Literally every time I have to forget device and try repairing and some sessions it doesn't even pair at all. Would be nice to just take it out of a dock and it just works. I have more complaints about the SN30 Pro's membranes than I do the Pro 2's, the Pro 2's in particular were such that I probably wouldn't have been able to tell them apart with the SFC's in a blind test. Though even trimming the SFC membranes to fit in the Pro 2, I did notice that 8bitdo's seem to be able to handle being compressed a lot better. Pro 2's membranes feel fine in a SFC controller, SFC membranes get squashed and feel horrible in a Pro 2.

Oh yeah I don't actually doubt that at all, I remember my original SNES shell SN30 Pro (the one they had to stop making because Nintendo sent them a C&D) having a kinda shitty d-pad. They got their shit together since then, I guess-- a hall effect SN30 Pro refresh I bought to dump its guts into my old SNES shell feels fine, good even.

he's an fpsfag, so when he aims with a stick he wants it to feel the same as how it feels when he aims on a dualsense
tegenaria lite video is a fair example where he's in the right, because that controller's sticks are pretty unresponsive until you move it a certain distance

I've got the old Ultimate with bluetooth and 2.4ghz, which is compatible with its own usb dongle or the Switch.
When I take it off the charging dock, it automatically pairs with the PC and does the new hardware sound. When I put it back on the charging dock, it unpairs and does the "removed hardware" sound. Shit just werks and that convenience is worth everything. Usually you don't see that kind of smooth functionality on PC without wired.

Also wish the back buttons could be set to turbo a single button press.
