Why do people like Star Fox Assault?

Is Star Fox EX any good? Couldn't get it to work.

But yeah, it's possible that there's really only one game's worth of good rail shooter ideas. SF64 already started to repeat itself. I still wish there was more, it's not like we haven't gotten ten 3D marios...

I've been making sense of the routes in my head

>Corneria: If the team doesn't defeat the Attack Carrier, the Cornerian fleet has to expend extra forces in wiping out the remaining Venomian forces on Corneria, thus doesn't go to Sector Y.

>Sector Y: If the team is able to save the fleet, then the Cornerians provide enough support to Katina, allowing Star Fox to take care of the bioweapon on Aquas

>Zoness: if the enemy is alerted of Star Fox's presence, they can't sneak around to Sector Z.

>Macbeth: If the enemy supply depot is destroyed, then the team can go to Area 6 as enemy supply chain has been cut, thus weaking the defense zone. Otherwise, they have to sneak around to the Bolse defense satellite to get to Venom.

>Sector Z: If the Great Fox's wing is destroyed, it cannot provide sufficient cover for the team in Area 6, forcing a trip to Bolse.

>Fichina/Katina: Saving either base allows the team to recover documents about Andross' bioweapon that he placed on Solar, otherwise there'd be no reason to go there. Thus the team goes to try and attack the Venomian base in Sector X

>Sector X: Obvious split, no reason to go to a desert hellscape like Titania unless it's to save Slippy.

I like to think the Double Star Wolf route is the 'true' route. Pic related

A. We know Area 6 to Venom 2 is the true ending. We also know there's a forced Star Wolf fight there.
B. Star Wolf's portraits on Venom 2 look like they've been horribly wounded, implying a defeat earlier.
C. The only place one could fight them prior to this is Fichina. A victory here also implies the team goes to Solar.

CAVE shooters like mushihimesama furtari and espgaluda are the top shooters. Do live Starfox though. I used to fall alseep with the starfox 64 gamebox in bed with me. I was 12 and my aprents abused me to suicide (failed) somehow games like this gave me comfort.

1. Solar (Hottest planet, if not the sun itself)
2. Macbeth (Also seems like it would be close. Pretty close to Solar on the map)
3. Katina(Same with Macbeth, close to Solar)
4. Corneria (Explicitly stated)
5. Sauria(They travel there from Corneria's orbit, it's probably close)
6. Fichina
7. Aquas
8. Titania
9. Zoness
10. Fortuna
11. Papetoon (remote colony world, outer system)
12. Venom (outermost, Andross’ home world)

I don't consider Eddard canon, at least in the 64 timeline. I also like Event Horizon's idea that Lylat is a binary star system where both Lylat and Solar are it's suns.
