I'd have to play through Dawntrail, and that aint happening. Only way I can see myself returning is if there's a complete rewrite without Kate and Sena, or a free story skip packaged into 8.0. Dawntrail is a huge issue they're going to have to deal with sooner or later, sprouts will get to 7.0 eventually. I fully see the mobile version becoming the main version.

What the devs need to do for this game is have an "AHA" moment like they did when separating PvP abilities from PvE.
Apply that same logic to "Ultimate/Savage" rading vs Normal PvE. Where Ultimate/Savage has specific abilities/potencies meant to keep it an even playing field for current endgame fights. While everything else can have crazy customization because optimization isn't as necessary.
But what's probably gonna happen based on what Yoshi-P said is that the "new" leveling will be allocating job points to upgrade/unlock abilities and such, but when you reach the "new" Level 110, everything is unlocked. So it's just 100->110 but with a fancy skin.

After finishing 7.3 I think that what the expansion needed was more darkness and death. The scene of Necron showing up and everyone having the fear of death was really good, but I couldn't help but think that this scene would've hit a lot harder had the "presence" of death been with us throughout the entire adventure. Instead 7.0 felt like the Wuk Lamat Show until the very end and even living memory was bad to meh. It's like they tried to have this theme of death and dying like in FF9 but failed to really hammer it home. Imagine if instead of LE EBIN TACOLAND!!! New World we got "criminal cartels are trying to take over since Gulool Ja Ja has died" and everywhere you go you see how people are coping with the deaths of their loved ones in this turbulent time. The developers fear of a racist backlash led to the New World being sanitized and I think that hurt the game a lot

There's no theme in Dawntrail. The theme should be "succession", instead it's "death" later on in Solution 9.

The theme should be "succession" because it's a meta-narrative on the story at that point.
What does someone do after saving the world? How do you deal with a quiet life? Was it really worth the people lost?

I know XIV's really against doing romance stuff, but you need these sort of scenes in Dawntrail where the WoL is settled for a moment with Y'shtola or Estinein.

Ironically, DT being bad is a story of meta-story of succession anyway, because it asks the player what it would take to keep them in the game, keep them invested in Eorzea.

i didnt mind it doing damage, and trading off damage for saving it for a mechanic where its a DPS increase (in theory) but its animation lock required it to have 10 more yalm range, in order to actually be useful. 15yalm is pathetic and unusable. the devs continue to not know how to fix the problems with DRK and other jobs.

the gameplay was fine in 3.0 DRK, but they still had shit working against it, like giving enemies blindness, and raising evasion... all while needing enemies to land a hit on you, to gain your MP back.
it should have just triggered on an attempted attack on you at minimum. (and should have just been mixed in with salted earth as a tick based on you hitting them, since enemy stun locking was so much more common, especially with most healers being WHM who spamed holy stun at the start of the fight.
DRK also needed at least ONE energency AoE that was physical, to help with MP and then HP drains during such moments.
I think there was 1 more thing it needed adjustments to, but none the less, 3.0 DRK was the best, and each version got a bit worse.

They added mounting animations in 7.3 as well, but they're minor in some cases and more obvious in others (chocobo, bikes, horses, wolves)
