I went through most of PC VR games in the first year I got the quest 3.
Honorable mention to Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR of which I got a combined 500-600hrs or so.

I want to use pcvr to play dark souls games among others.
Do you recomend it?

I did play crash bandicoot 4 in VR with a gamepad so there's a niche there but I enjoyed it. I'm not sure how well the dark souls mods work on the visual side. I know there's one for Elden Ring but I don't enjoy the game so I never retried it in VR.
I mean you can snag a quest 2/3 for 200 bucks now used so it's not like you lose a lot of money anyway.

Replaced all screens for me. But only on quest 3. I wouldn't have done so with a 2 or 3s. But just having 3 movie theater sized screens (with clarity through virtual desktop not steamvr overlays) alone is worth it. Plus one of those is 3D full time. If not movies n shows i got 3d wallpapers always running on it (using ai video converters)

i got mine for free by doing some easy extra shit at work, so no

for a free toy, it's pretty great. i can't actually say it's an upgrade visually from a rift cv1 though, and that's kind of ridiculous to say. the only good thing i guess are the pancake lenses and the passthrough cameras so you can actually see people around you, but the gimped audio basically needing iems or wireless buds designed specifically for it is retarded. then if you got the wireless buds with the dongle you can't use pcvr, which means you need to have something plugged into the 3.5mm audio jack, but then you have another cable hanging out of your face to worry about

I just use virtual desktop. You can switch the type of vr view in the floating menu on 1 screen. If you're using the apartment environments it will always be the big screen tv. And for 3d I use iw3 but I point most people to owl3d. Takes about 1 day per movie to convert to stereoscopic 3d. There was a thread on conversions for wallpapers in the wallpaper board but it's probably about to die. For standalone theres a few free viewers. Deovr used to my my main 2 years ago

Apparently owl3d is way faster to convert shit in that iw3 and brings in better result, according to some plebbitors opinions. I don't watch enough 3D movies to care enough and waste money on the subscription they ask tho.

Iw3 is more for the experimental models (that if even available on owl will be paywalled behind a more advanced subscription) but those are all old-school already. The scene has moved on the ones that use guassian splatting but those require like a 5000 series. Think they use depth crafter and sterocrafter and some DaVinci specialized nodes. If you're interested in that rabbit hole. But the results are godly on those types. Like i was literally giggling in disbelief on an example clip that took a guy a month to convert pushing the limits (on the early versions of those)

No, it just fills in the blurry spots (on other models) so you can push the 3d depth way beyond normal limits without eye strain or noticeable distortion
Anonymous No.718862213 [Report] >>718862332
>>718861918
You can do that through cloud based ones but those stopped being free like a year ago most need multiple angles.. But I'm talking about for watching as a 3d video. Normally when the 3d is pushed there's like a marble effecting along the edges of the depth. The splattering inpaints it sonit looks natural instead of using distortions like older models

Everyone complaining about having a thing on their face are not using halo straps with a counterweight. It makes all the difference, you dont even need a facial interface. But you can't do that on a quest 2 or 3s, only the 3. I think psvr's are also halo but no counterweight. Even apple vision pro made that mistake

If you have the money for a quest 3 go for the 3. The difference in lenses feel a full generation ahead of the 2 and 3s. That said pc upgrades (gpu mainly) are more important especially if you haven't spoiled yourself with pancake yet. But when I tried to go backwards to a quest 2 from a 3, it was such a downgrade I decided to stare at my wall for a week instead while I waited for a repair. So if you're really unsure you can test with a quest 2 but you will be kicking yourself for not jumping to a 3 if you end up liking it to the point you can't go back to first person games flat

I'm still on a Quest 2. Was tempted to upgrade to a Quest 3 because of the lenses, but I think I'll hold out until a Quest 4 or potentially á new Valve headset comes out. My main concern is headset size and while I don't expect anything on par with a bigscreen beyond in that regard, I do hope that the new headsets are still going to be smaller than the Quest 3.

If you do end up going for it, just a heads up, it is one of the most uncomfortable pieces of shit ever. Rigid as fuck, built for a lizard or an alien's head, a human never tested that shit before mass producing it. There's also fuck all for accessories, because it has no compatibility built into it, zero flexibility. Counter weights will help and replacing the head padding might help a little bit, but shit sucks. Face tracking is fun as fuck tho.

I didn't buy a quest. But I don't regret buying into VR. Only that the development for regular games is slow and there's less opportune moments that come along of where something was designed from the ground up for VR. But I'm mostly playing modded versions of existing games and that's where I can't say I'm not getting my moneys worth. I just wanted more immersion in my games. It's really that simple.

In my Quest 3 when i enter my PC screen the edges of the window have jagged edges and it looks fucking horrible also even in native games pixelisations seems too noticable
Pic rel is how screen kidna looks like not 1to1 but similar to this i even tried the dev toolkit thing and nothing changed and since i got this thing in Jan i doubt i can get refund or replacement

PSVR1 is actually the best headset for people complaining about the weight or how it's uncomfortable to have something tightly strapped on your face.
PSVR was designed to have the whole weight evenly distributed around your head, and the lenses are floating mid air so they never actually touch your face.
It also has like a inch of slide mechanism under the strap that moves the lenses towards your eyes, and this gives a much wider FoV than what it says on paper, so basically you'll never see the edge of the screen while playing games on a PSVR1.
I have no idea how they fucked up the PSVR2 by not letting people play their PSVR1 games on it, actually making it an "no-game VR headset" but the PSVR1(and a hackable PS4) is still a must-have item in my opinion.

not sure if it's the same issue, but when I use pcvr with my quest 3s it always has this fucking interpolated frame bs turned on by default which makes the screen really fucky sometimes. To disable it you press Ctrl + Numpad 1

No, I play a lot of boxing and sword fighting games and they are excellent cardio on days where I don't feel like running, as well as being fun and satisfying to play.

if you have a recent WiFi router, you might want to try Virtual Desktop, it's much stable than any other wireless solutions.
I only play VR mods like UEVR so I'm not sure what games besides VR hentai games like Koikatsu are actually good for people who easily get motion sickness like me.
If the Joystick locomotion is the main issue, you can try free apps like "OVR Advanced Settings" which has a "grip-move" solution that works for almost any VR games and mods that run on SteamVR.

I ended up getting a wire and now I'm connected directly to the PC, so I don't know if I really need a better router (my current one sucks ass)

Crazy Idea, but maybe raise the price by 200 euros, at that price someone is going to think it's defective or for parts.
