In general you don't need to hit the fans for that long or hard, and even if you do you can just hold em still.

Really you're aiming for all the corners, nooks and crannies of your case, just steel panels and framework where dust can collect that is impossible to reach. it's very convenient.

Because new cases do come with new features sometimes, a dedicated slot for PSU instead of just being part of the main case, removable HDD trays, backmounted SDDs, etc.
You CAN live without all of that, but if you build shit often enough it's just so much nicer to not have to deal with a 20 year old case that's just a steel box with no features.

What is a diode? lol you would really have to have either a cheap ass gpu or do it purposefully. Almost all fans have diodes and the port it plugs into has a diode somewhere in the circuitry.

NTA but I got no idea what a fuckin diode is brother. Let's say one discreet little element in my GPU breaks and it's a 30 cent diode, it might as well be a write off for all that means to me. These things are a black box for 99.99% of people you realise
Anonymous No.718862514

You don't ever have to, practically all cases have dust filters that do actually filter most of the fucking dust that could enter it. The same shit applies to thermal paste, every time some nigger mentions that you have to reapply it I'm in fucking awe because I never, ever had to do that shit.

maybe you should clean the tiny heatsink that's extremely prone to dust build-up and causes the console to start making plane noises after a while since the single fan needs to run at full speed to keep pushing air through that mess

I once damaged the fans on one of my GPUs with one of those. You can make the fans spin too fast. Just grab a paint brush with the longest bristles possible (for reach) and brush the dust off. Whatever debris fall off you can just blow off. My PCs have never been cleaner since switching to brushes (with microfiber cloths). They apparently make anti-static brushes, but I've had no such issues. Plus, they don't have much reach.

I believe you. As I said to the other anon I just hold the fan still if I have to concentrate on one with anything more than a passing gust of air as I fan my hand throughout the case. Just pop a finger in it, fan can't move, done and dusted. Coincidentally a thin paint brush would be ideal for this task.
