I honestly only like 3d Mario from there, I never got the hang of sidescrollers.
I honestly would be okay with some random game that got the gameplay right, but I have zero hopes since now 90% of the industry is either movie games, soulsshit or metroidvania.

Got a different take. I want certain games to get platformer spin offs.

The candidates are Darkstalkers and Kingdom Hearts. Both worlds are so rich with substance real shame they go unexplored.

The only Bubsy game I played was Woolies Strike Back and it was mediocre at best. I plan on picking up the collection when it comes out, though. 4D looks like it'll be solid at least.

After all the patches I think 3 was a worthy successor to 2. Sumo was simply rushed. The new level editing tools were great overall and they made some really good DLC levels.
Put simply, I'd trust them with making 4 provided they get ample time to make it. Also, while I too would prefer it be made by MM I will say they really dropped the ball with Dreams.

I liked Dreams a lot. Genuinely, really a lot. There are a lot of fun little ideas made in it and as far as "baby's first game maker tool" it was pretty damn impressive while still being easy to pick up.
Dreams' biggest crime, that wasn't even its own, is that it was left to rot on PS4. If that game made the move to PC with the rest of the Playstation stuff I think it'd have one hell of a revival.

It's crazy how many platformers Nintendo has under their belt. Wario, DK and Yoshi arebig enough to be considered their own franchises but even if you still group them under Mario they have Kirby, Starfy and for a little while they owned Banjo Kazooie. The thing is Starfy and various other platformers can keep going despite Mario taking the lions share in sales, the last Starfy game was the best selling one I think and Banjo showed no signs of fatigue, (the creators however were). What I would really love is a Balloon Fight revival.

I imagine a survival platformer only the conditions and penalties are small at first put ramp up as the game goes on/ the more you accomplish. Think of a world were the sky is safe and when you are on land you're in imminent danger. you can traverse the land for various objectives but the penalties and threats become more dangerous the longer you stay there and the sky is were you do much of the standard combat and traversal the series it known for. Fishing could also play into the gameplay bot not in the traditional sense. The bait would be the foes you drop down to the surface or water so performance in defeating airborne foes could be a thing and how you 'fish out' various things from below has its risks as well.
