Average.
Pokemon and Ace Attorney started going downhill on it. Link Between Worlds was alright, spent a lot of time on Animal Crossing, enjoyed WarioWare Gold and Rune Factory 4, and Pocket Card Jockey was surprisingly addictive. But on the whole, not as much good stuff as the DS.

It was ok, I got MK7 with the console. getting the 1-2 diarrhea punch of sticker star and luigi's mansion dark moon basically killed my interest in the system. The only stuff I bought afterwards was pokemon and smash 4. I play it sometimes now but I wasn't too crazy for it when it was current.

Go to cons and game shops. I always bring my 3DS to cons and get a ton of streetpasses, some at game shops but not nearly as many. People do still carry their 3DS's around at stereotypically nerdy places, I don't know about anywhere else though.

I remember the day Pokemon SM came out, Moon was the first game I (major Pokemon autist) bought with my own money I actually worked for. I was 16 and working a fast food job, coming home and loading up the game for the first time is one of my favorite gaming memories. I would bring my 3DS to school every day and play the shit out of that game. Good Times.

I prefer consoles to handhelds so that whole era pissed me off to no end. The Wii U got long droughts without games while the 3DS got all the good shit. I kept hoping for a Wii U Fire Emblem game yet they decided to just make the series locked to handhelds after Awakening. X and Y were also what made me give up on Pokemon and I haven’t played any of the gens since then.

I remember X/Y coming out and buying 2DS.
Was fun. I spent way too much time doing super training and feeding my mons. Seeing them power through attacks and critting more because you took care of them was cool. Gave that small "anime" feel and that you stand out other than being tangled in main plot. They should make postgame quests etc. with huge difficulty spike and stuff where you need to have a mon you have taken care of and trusts you etc.
It would add so much for a game.

Also Hex Maniac porn was huge thing. Dating and romance mechanics PLEASE

I thought handhelds were really lame at the time they came out, but there were a handful of games like the DS Castlevania and 3DS Metroid game that piqued my interest. I ended up getting one a few years ago to mod and it’s a perfect handheld - much better than Switch in just pure portable functionality and on-the-go fun.

To my knowledge VLR and ZTD are the same across every platform but I'd actually recommend NOT to play 999 on the DS or 3DS. There's no timeline that lets you see your progress and jump to different routes like other games so backtracking and getting the true ending is tedious. The added timeline, redrawn sprites + CGs and the voice acting in the HD version on Vita and PC make it so much better.

Got min on my birthday in 2012
I played a lot of ACNL ,MK7 and luigis mansion. Rabbids Travel in time was my 1st actual 3ds game if I remember correctly. after that it was a lot of my old ds games, a few demos and what I could get from my library.
I remember sticker star, and having my cartridge glitch me at the end so it would always reset my progress after the final boss. My New leaf cartridge died on me and I could never get back into it afterward.
I spent a lot of time on nintendo video, i remember ads for that haggling game with the minigames and the armadillo roller game. Seeing the rifles spiral video and dinosaur office too.
dicked around with face raiders and after that it's all I can remember. Childhood handheld and I still have it, I remember it fondly. even if I really didn't have that many games.

>you basically take care of and train a digimon to venture out and bring other digimon to the city to open facilities that will make raising your digimon easier.
>digimon have lifespans, meaning you can't just shut yourself in the gym until you hit the stat cap
>the colosseum is very fun. just make sure to max out discipline before registering a mon
>don't feel bad if you can't do everything in one gen. the next one will turn out better than the last one
>lastly, if you have a friend with you, you can play the entire game in co-op with them. or fight at the colosseum
I don't want to spoil much, but before you start racking up upgrades, battles are a viable way to train (comparable stat gain to the gym per hour, depends on enemy stats and number of enemies though), plus that way you earn money on the side so you can abuse the restaurant and invest in stocks.

Ditto as the anon above me, it was just a good era. It was the last era of limitation and the last thing that came before everything got more "cleaned up" to stop exploits and off-color user generated content. The device had a library of weird games with chunky or reduced quality graphics, not as much as the innovation of the DS but still great. It had things that just couldn't fly today, like Miiverse and device themes (because apparently they consider those a hacking vector?), badges, a suite of base applications to mess with the hardware like a 3D camera, etc.
Anonymous No.718897216
Positively for sure. For a majority of zoomies (I am talking about those born in the early 2000s specifically) it was THE definitive childhood handheld.
The only negative parts I remember was that you were shit out of luck if you didn't have much to play. That can also be attributed to owning any other console when you're a kid really, but when you only get new video games on your birthday/or Christmas, there are only so many times you can play Mario Kart 7 and constantly stalk the eShop for anything free.
Watching Youtube videos on it was also cool, even if it was on a tiny 240p screen.

spotpass was genius when I was in college. hated the keyboard features in co-op games though. everyone remembers typing shit out on monster hunter hubs like 4 words at a time, 45 seconds per post.
on the go gaming was kind of taken over by mobile games or phone games, but real niggas remember when your only option for good online games wherever you were was a DS in your backpack/car.
>most notable memories
I remember blowing through a ton of games because one of my friends was moving out of state for college and left me his vidya collection since he was only taking his xbox with him. i probably played through 20 games carts from june to december on my 3ds freshman year and got into lots of franchises as a result of exposure that i would never have picked up like dragon ball and castlevania.
people dont really loan games or devices to eachother anymore these days. the DS and switch are so compact that its easy to pass the around for a week to friends or coworkers. I remember the 3DS having a rough launch with almost no major games at first.
Nintendo released the "Ambassador" games for early adopters, which included Fire Emblem Sacred Stones. After playing that, I gave Awakening a chance when it came out. I was not a Fire Emblem fan before, but I always heard that this game saved the franchise and was critically acclaimed for a while. I never saw Fire Emblem stuff being advertised as much as this one.

Pokemon XY came out, and I remember way more people carrying a 3DS at community college or cons. You could literally see the player base interacting in real time on the 2nd screen, and it was amazing. Trading on message boards and Wi-Fi Battles blew up everywhere, especially Youtube. It was the first international Pokemon game too, so everybody was mining the game together instead of Japan getting it first. It was a fun time.

N64 Zelda getting remade for the 3DS was great, but a bit surprising that they were handheld instead of WiiU games.

Positively, mostly. I got it as a Christmas gift around launch, but hated it for a little while, as I was a slightly spoiled little shit. But my opinions changed after some time. I remember desperately wanting A Link Between Worlds. My dad gave me some money to buy it, but I forgot about tax and didn't want to ask him for more, so I just pocketed my school lunch money until I had enough. Then, I walked alone to my local K-Mart, which was around a mile away to buy it. I have fond memories of that day. My friend who moved away had come to visit, the weather was really nice, the neighbor's tree was blossoming and covered a section of the alleyway with a thick layer of pink petals. Some girl said her friend thought I was cute on my way to the store, and being a nerdy autist, I just continued on my way but I did smile. It was a nice day. Thanks for reading my blog.

This and the normal DS were my childhood. Back when I wasn't depressed.

Ironically, I really enjoyed AC New Leaf and Tomodachi Life. But my favourite game was Fantasy Life. I also used the console to play various original DS games.
3DS games have a really nice early PC game retro artstyle, though I don't like the low resolution.
The negative thing is that the vast majority of games were too easy. I think this made me weaker and negatively affected my problem solving skills. Childrens games need to be difficult so you learn valuable life skills like never giving up and learning from your mistakes to grow stronger and overcome challenges and facing your fears.

No, I will say they is a use case for each. If you want to use the 3d functions, go with the XL as using this makes the image share and look better with the larger screen. If you don't want to use the 3d, get the non-XL model.

Also, if you want to mod the device, try to get the New 2DS XL as you are almost never going to use the 3d function.

If you are NOT going mod and play playstation games and stick with GBA, GB and 3ds game, get the regular 3DS it is a LOT cheaper
