this. i don't get how you can be setting up emulators multiple times. unless you just mean you quit on things in general whenever you go through the trouble of setting them up 90% of the way, in which case LMAO you're adhd brained.

I can't get into emulators either. Not sure what it is but I find it very hard to commit to playing a game entirely on emulator.

this except I spend several hours tweaking every possible setting and then toggling them over and over again until I press the button just right because I have severe OCD
then I burn out and never touch the game again and want to kill myself

YES I CAN STILL PLAY THEM IF I PLAY THEM VIA OPENING THE EMULATOR ITSELF AND CHOOSE THE ISO MANUALLY THATS NOT THE POINT

Set up is genuinely part of the fun for myself, but only part of it. You just gotta pick a game you think you might enjoy and give it a fair shake. Some lack of QoL in games is intentional and not too big a deal when you acclimate to it.
>fussing to make it perfect
I usually just make sure my controller works, the aspect ratio is correct for the console, and apply a CRT filter for some older stuff. I don't usually bother upscaling, just keep the resolution at what the console normally is.
What prevents you guys from wanting to play stuff? It's a honest question. Is it factors outside the game? Having a hard time finding a game? If you want game recs, I'd be happy to give some, or attempt to at least.

Why cry? We don't have time for all the slow ass animations of old games.

I don't know which emulator I used but I wanted to play some of the old school pocketmans sped up. I could only choose normal(fr*cking slow) or superfast (way too fast) and stopped caring. This was maybe 5-10 years ago, is there an emulator that allows "different speed up levels"? One that just has a lot of customisation that even a giga-autist would be satisfied
