I haven't finished any games this year, but most of the games I've played this year don't have a clearly defined finish.

Maybe about 20-25 so far. It's mainly replays of older games with japanese dubs/subs to continue improving my listening/reading skills but I did buy the new Mafia game and I played Metaphor and Wuchang through Gamepass. The former was fucking awful.

I finished my master thesis and got married.

I also finally finished skyward sword. God that fucking game is bloated to shit.

I finally got around to playing through the RPG mode in Ehrgeiz. 6/10 fighting game with a 9/10 RPG hidden away in it. Good stuff. I wish the final boss was actually hard, hence why I didn't give it 10/10.

Nice. I don't build gunpla or models myself, since I'm not exactly great with fine details, but I've always loved mechs ever since I saw the original Gundam movies as a kid. I've seen most them up until about IBO. The early UC stuff can be kinda dense, but it definitely holds up. I don't know how far into mecha you are or if you're interested in super robot stuff, but I definitely recommend Getter Robo and Mazinger, too.

I wanted to complete a lot of games this year, because I tend to fall into a shitposting and youtube loop. In the end I only finished three (Stray, Getting Over It and A Game About Digging a Hole). But I also spent more time watching TVslop and reading manga, so I half-cleared my personal goal.
Now I'm trying to focus on games again, I started a second playthrough of Bloodborne so I can do the DLC, plus slowly going through Nightreign and also collecting achievements in Infinity Nikki.

Yeah it didn't build that much traction unless you really cared about it. It's a fine enough game. I did not enjoy the Hard Mode because a lot of the sections are only harder by virtue of having stage hazards all over the place. And the secret ending is boring gameplay wise (cool thematically though), because it strips you of half of your move set. I still liked the game well enough and am looking forward to Shinobi as well

Only games I actually completed this year were Dishonored (both routes, but no DLC), Sonic Riders and XIII. Also finished Crash 4 but I'm going for full completion there so still chipping away at it. Spent a lot of time getting into Balatro this year but I've been away a lot this year with friends and family so I'm not too bothered. Nothing really on for the rest of the year though so getting back into games properly, just need to figure out what to play.

For a multiplayer game without any real progression, it's when you've seen most of the content. Any other form of completion is personal. This can be applied to sandboxes and multimedia shit just as well.

For score games it depends on how old/simple they are. If it has loops that don't differ much, you can beat one loop and then just consider it a normal high score game. If it's just pure score with no real progression, get a decent score.

Of these, I think I only struggled to get through Astalon and Genome Guardian. Not that they was bad, but it wasn't quite as gripping as the rest. My favorite might be Dolls Nest, Sword of the Sea, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Yakuza 7, but I adored my time in most of these. They all have a lot to offer, and have become some of my favorite games.

I also replayed several of my favorite games, including Xenogears, Mega Man Battle Network 3, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Metal Max Returns, and Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon (one of the best games ever) - I like video games. I have had a lot of fun this year. I needed the fun. It's been a very challenging year.

Actually impressive - Like it's not perfect, but it has a lot of fun ideas and it feels shockingly modern in a lot of ways. Super interactive, big sandbox, and it's still pretty. Knocking trees down to block enemy passage is a fun moment I remember. Some Norks were shooting at me and yelling in Nork, so I shot a tree and kept them pinned in place. Another time a soldier was hiding in an outhouse and I shot him so hard he blew out the wall and tumbled over a fence. It was neat. Solid 7-8, surprised me.

Sometimes. The enemies can be clever about hiding and if you're bad at tracking them you'll get flanked. Even at its easiest it's really fun to just use your fantasy power suit and overwhelm some screaming lunatic Koreans and see what happens next. Definitely shlocky story, but it's got a charming Tremors-y quality to it. Bad but having fun with it.
