My honest theory is that every entity represents a concept
They ARE that concept and thus cannot be removed from it, ENA is regret, her very being is regret, that's why she uniquely cannot be forgiven, her two faced identity, her attempt to control one side of herself and the other constantly apologizing for it, the fact that her sins cannot be washed away because without it she is nothing, it is her concept, entities are not living organic beings they are idea and without their core idea they cease to exist
that is also why Frank the Unforgiven cannot be forgiven
it would remove what makes him himself and he would be erased as a concept
