The introduction of purple guy was in FNaF 2, which takes place in 1987. Having a hidden game that's meant to emulate a cross between a memory and a video game is thematically consistent for what it'd look like at the time.

Point is that old devs did the best looking game they could within their limitations while retro devs make bad looking games on purpose.
And their worst offense is those out of grid pixels that are crooked, rotated or different sized. The mini games in fnaf games are very guilty of that.

From what I understand, he's a man obsessed with legacy, originally becoming an entrepreneur trying to create an entertainment/restaurant business inspired by the circuses he used to visit as a child. The logical end point of this position though is that no games should ever look like that because we no longer have those same limitations. While you could apply it to 'retro' devs who specifically limit themselves to a certain file size, that wouldn't be able to apply in this context specifically because it's a game inside a game.
Also, out of place pixels being crooked or different sized was absolutely present in older games. Much like today, games back in the day had varying level of visual quality and detail.

Accidentally finding and reading through a FNAF incest blog might have been one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have ever had with something online.
It wasn't even anything especially explicit or violent (lots of stuff up in the catalog would put it to shame in that regard) but it still made me wince because you could tell the person running it legitimately was not well in the head.
